You opened the door, but didn't see anyone. Instead on the ground was a clipboard. On it was a simple sheet of paper with a pen and a simply
yes/no question check-mark.
'If you were given the choice, to change the world and people for the better: would you?
-Signed Mr. YHWH'
--
Paul thought about it for a minute, deciding there was no harm in answering, and he marked 'yes.'
The paper, clipboard, and pen vanished in a flash of light. A Paul suddenly felt very different.
Everything was larger. Very larger. Looking in the entry way mirror, he saw a little girl with short blond hair. She was wearing a very simplistic
white sleeveless dress with blue runes on the helm she could somehow read that said 'Do Not Be Afraid.' Her eyes glowed blue. A white halo
glowed above her, she tried to touch it but her little hands just went through it. Floating behind her back was crystalline wings. Gingerly she
made a small hop off the ground, and found herself floating of the floor. She flew to the mirror and touched her reflection.
"Pauline." She whispered, "My name is Pauline now."
And like instructions, new knowledge came to her mind.
1) Anyone who has even the smallest spark of goodness in them shall transform like you have at your touch.
2) Those without ANY spark of goodness and only have evil in their hearts shall spontaneously combust at your touch.
3) Thing like animals and machines that don't have the ability to comprehend good or evil are not effected.
4) Change the world, bring happiness, and spread your gift to all. It has begun.
"WOW! I have a biiiig responsibility!" Pauline gasped. She was distracted for a moment by her wings, and flew about the living room laughing at
the suddenly sheer FREEDOM she now felt. She accidentally rammed her head straight into the ceiling at high speed . . . and didn't feel a thing,
in fact, it looked like the ceiling had been hurt more than her. With a thought, Pauline felt herself become see through and poked her head
through the ceiling, and floated back down the floor and became solid again. "I wonder what else I can do! But . . . do I want this?"
Pauline looked back at the living room. And remembered, what did her old existence hold for her? What friends did she have personally? What
family? What loved ones? The few she had she could share her gift with. And gift it was, she had never felt so happy, so free, so pure, like this
had always been her, but the excess had now been washed away. She had never felt so alive.
"Okay. I do." She turned the tV off, and wondered how she was supposed to go about things. Well, going out for a walk first didn't seem like
such a bad idea.
She floated out the front door, and began to walk down the street. She wondered why she didn't see any kids at play at this time in the
afternoon. Maybe they were all inside watching TV? That felt like such a waste.
A man wearing a full head mask and gloves leapt over a fence, and began running towards the side walk. He actually stopped when he saw
Pauline. He looked at her with a look that made her uncomfortable and reach for her. The moment he touched her, he lit up like flash paper,
and was was dust in less than an eye-blink. His clothes in a sooted heap.
Pauline stood there in shock. Had she . . . had she really done that? . . . She fell to her knees.
A police car drove around the corner a very short while later.
The car parked and stopped when he saw the child just sitting there in shock. He officer got out and approached the child. There was the
perp's clothes in front of her all right. What was she wearing? Some kind of cosplay costume?
"Hey kiddo, are you okay? Did you see a man run by here just now? It's all right, I'm here to help." He reached down and touched the child on
the shoulder.
A flash of light. Pauline blinked and looked, touching her shoulder was a little girl her age. Like her, she was bare foot. Her dress was shade of
blue like a police uniform, and her hair was brown and in long pig tails that went down her back between her wings. Glowing violet eyes looked
at her kindly, her sweet head capped off by a halo.
Around her neck was a gold pendant shaped like a star, with runes on it that gave a name, and an badge number.
"Hi, I'm Joella, don't afraid, I'm here to help."
Pauline and stood up and hugged her new sister. "I'm so sorry! I made that man go poof!"
"There there, that man was a VERY bad man, who didn't want to change, ever. It's okay. I promise. It'll be okay. Your name is Pauline right?"
"R-Right? How'd you know?"
Joella shrugged, "I dunno. I just do." Joella looked at the sky, "Change the entire world huh? That's gonna be a challenge. A big one. Heh, don't
worry, yer gonna have family at her side, promise."
"Thanks Joella."
