Rebeca had only been in her room for ten minutes when there was a knock at the door. One of her bodyguards
went to open it, but was hit in the head as the door swung open.
"At ease mooks, head of security and crew." Logan said, walking in. Behind him were the other three
contestants.
"What?" Rebeca asked as she laid on her large bed.
"We need to have a meeting before the murder happens so that one of us can actually win." Cal said.
"And you all went along with this?" Rebeca asked, eyeing Logan and Will.
"Let's face it, we know Sci-Fi about as well as Cal knows trigonometry. We need all the help we can get." Will
said, earning him a glare from the armored woman next to him.
"Yeah, but only one of us is going to win." Rebeca said.
"Look at it this way: we need to make sure no one dies before getting accused. At the very least, we can get
that done here." Logan said.
"Fair enough. Oh, just remembered. Guards, stand outside. I don't want anyone interrupting us or listening to
us." Rebeca said. With that, her bodyguards exited the room, each sending a death glare to Logan as they left.
"Lovely, the heavily armed thugs all dislike me." Logan said.
"Don't worry about them. Now, down to business-" Gabe said before being interrupted.
"I call dibs on blaming Will." Cal said.
"Damn, I was gonna do that." Rebeca said.
"Thanks a lot you guys. Real nice." Will said.
"In all fairness, you do seem to be the only one who actively enjoys being cruel and evil." Logan said.
"We've only done three challenges, and we were split up for two of them!" Will said.
"Well, most of us were split up." Gabe said.
"Can we move on?" Will asked.
"Fine. In that case, I accuse Cal." Rebeca said.
"And I accuse Gabe." Will said.
"Really?" Cal asked.
"What? He knows the layout better than us." Will said.
"I accuse Logan I guess." Gabe said, shrugging.
"That leaves you Rebeca." Logan said.
"Perfect. Now we won't be sent willy nilly into the next challenge." Will said, moving for the door.
"Oh no, we aren't leaving yet." Logan said, grabbing Will by the shoulder.
"Yeah, I thought you guys wanted some info." Gabe said.
"Fine, shoot." Will said, walking over to sit on Rebeca's bed.
"Alright, here's the thing: like supers and horror, sci-fi plays by harder and faster story laws. As such, the
NPCs don't know they're in a game. Trust me, I checked. Second, all of our weapons still shoot metal bullets,
but they're roughly the size of a toothpick, so don't bother looking for ballistics later. Next, there are
escape boats, but since this is a luxury boat, the captain has to give retinal scan confirmation in order for
them to be activated. So, hopefully the killer won't be able to get away. Finally, we're going to need to
stick together, or at least put together a team with some NPCs. Sci-fi is built for captains and crews most of
the time. While there are certain occasions where the player will be alone for a short period, it's normal for
players to travel with a party of four members of their crew." Gabe said.
"So, make friends, bullets are useless, and don't try to escape if you're the murderer." Cal summarized.
"Pretty much." Gabe said.
"Thank you Gabe for the information. Now, with all that settled, is there anything else?" Rebeca asked.
"Yeah, actually. Why would any of us kill someone?" Cal asked.
"Really? I can't be the only one who got a little personal backstory for my character right?" Logan asked.
"Nope, I did too." Will said.
"I did, and it's kind of disturbing. Not safe for work stuff all over the place." Rebeca said.
"Yeah Cal, it's stuff we just sort of know." Gabe said.
"Well yeah, I've got memories of religious academies and all, but do any of us actually have present
intentions to kill someone?" Cal asked.
"If the answer was yes, they wouldn't say." Will pointed out.
"I guess." Cal said.
"Okay then. In that case, everyone get out." Rebeca said, shooing the others out of her room.

The next morning, a stock scream woke everyone up at about 6 AM.
"So that's why these rooms don't have alarm clocks." Rebeca mumbled as she shuffled out of bed.
Mere minutes later, everyone was crowded around the cruise's pool. Laying face down in it was the ship's
captain.
"Well, on the bright side, I already knew I was gonna fail at my job before we started." Logan said, strolling
over to where Rebeca, Cal, and Will were standing.
"Guys!" Gabe shouted, running over to the others, "I have some bad news. Remember the retinal thing? The
captain's eyes were gouged out."
"Shit." Will said.
"True that." Cal said.
