Sam was agape, learning that Goldie had once been a guest herself and that she--he then--had known the wolverine morph they were going to hunt. Goldie felt like she was going to shrivel up and die, admitting what a horrible person she was before Sam. Why did she care so much about his opinion, anyway?

They opened the park for a deer tournament with forced transformations of the losers into does to generate revenue for off-the-book projects; they have plans to spread the technology to dictatorships looking to transform criminals and dissidents into loyal husky guards and, quote, exotic concubines, unquote, they're performing unethical experiments on homeless people to create mythological transforms like mermaids, pegasi and dragons with artificially created DNA, they're doing a hell of a lot of things you told us we were never going to do."
