"Do you have Dave or Adam's phone number handy?" Caroline asked. "I mean, if they're the ones behind all of this, don't you think we should give them a call?"
Truthfully, I thought the answer to that was 'no'. After all, if Dave and Adam were behind this, what would happen if we crossed them? Maybe they'd change our lives in some negative way instead. But still, that didn't mean that we couldn't inquire without sounding upset. Maybe if we just asked nicely, they'd tell us what happened and that would be that.
