You stare at the boy in the mirror. Dark, shaggy hair, big ears, teeth too big and nose too small. And grinning wide. You feel full of energy, happy and thrilled to be a kid again. It would be nice to be just a little older, but if you have to wait a while to reach puberty again, that's OK.
The reflection changes, showing you standing in an old-fashioned schoolyard and a white-painted one-room schoolhouse like something out of a movie. You're stil in the room, but the mirror now appears to be a doorway. You reach out and touch the glass. It's like warm water, and your fingers sink into it. Taking a dep breath, you step through. And find yourself in the schoolyard for real!
Part of you knows you are supposed to be in school now. The part that is now a real Tom Sawyer. But you are still in control, and you want to play, to explore, to enjoy being a kid. So you turn adn run fromthe school, heading for the fields over by the river. Huck Finn should be waiting somewhere close by.
And you want to see if this is really like teh bok, or if you are just a boy like Tom Sawyer.
