Jessica suddenly found herself with an armful of little fairy girl, causing her stumble back and fall on her rear from the surprise and force. “Wha-?”
Before Gracia could even fully register what had happened to her sister, she got bowled over by green blur, sending her to the floor in a heap, a tailed young boy with green hair now on her back. “Oof!” thankfully she managed to keep herself from landing on her face, saving her glasses from being bent or worse, broken.
The fairy giggled uncontrollably as the boy glared at her, before remembering he’d just knocked over someone. Derrick quickly tried to remember what his parents had taught him to do in such cases. “Uh… oh! Derrick help person up. Say sorry after.” Quickly getting off the still stunned girl, he started trying to lift her up into a standing position.
“Wah!” Gracia found herself lifted completely off the ground by a pair of small arms under her stomach, a quick grunt of effort from the boy half her age.
“Wow, he’s really strong for his size.”
“N-No kidding!” The older sister awkwardly scrambled from Derricks arms and stood up, looking quite ruffled.
“Derrick sorry for knocking girl over.”
“It’s- I mean, apology excepted.”
The other pair, still on the ground looked on, one in amusement the other wondering who it was she’d run into.
“Hi! My name is Julie! What’s your name?”
Jessica grinned at the adorable fairy in her arms, “Name’s Jessica, nice to meet you. That’s my twin sister Gracia.”
“I am quite capable of introducing myself, thank you very much.”
“Maybe, but you weren't. So what’s the hurry you two?” Jessica set Julie down as she stood up and straightened her dress.
“Annoying sister play joke on Derrick! Derrick chase so Derrick can get revenge!”
Julie stuck her tongue out, and immediately flew upward, managing to dodge her older brother who rammed into a wall with a loud thud. Naturally the two magical girls panicked, or rather, Jessica panicked while Gracia was greatly concerned.
“Aaah! Are you alright?!” Jessica grabbed the small boy before he had a chance to answer and turned him towards her, “How many fingers am I holding up?!”
Derrick on the other hand was completely mystified by the girl’s reaction, she was acting as if a tree had landed on his head, and this was nothing. If anything he’d expect her to be upset about the large divot his head had left in the wall, not worrying about him. Then she asked him a question.
The wild boy looked at the older girl’s hand and concentrated, he could do this, Mom had been teaching him ever since she’d found out about his complete lack of even rudimentary education, a few months after they’d first met (it wasn't something that came up often in the family’s adventuress life style)! …not that he actually practiced all that much… or paid attention…
Gracia noticed Derrick’s concentration and mounting anxiety, “Can you count, Derrick?”
“Derrick can count! …sort of”
Julie’s bell like giggles rang through the hotel hallway, “Derrick’s kinda dumb, but he’s really strong, and good at fighting and stuff!”
Derrick growled slightly, even as he started to pout, “Derrick not dumb. Sister only slightly better.”
Jessica’s panic had quickly bled away as the two inhuman children began to bicker, it quickly becoming obvious that ramming his head into wooden walls didn’t even faze the rather frightening little boy.
“Hey, Derrick, what are you?”
Gracia could only stare in mild shock at her sister’s incredibly rude question, even if she had been wondering the same thing.
Argument interrupted, Derrick turned towards Jessica.
