Kyle laid there in bed for what must have been around 10 minutes. Despite how tired he felt, he just could not fall asleep. He rolled over onto to his stomach, and continued to lay there. He willed sleep to take him, just for a few minutes. But, his brain was just too active.
Groaning, Kyle rolled back over and sat up. His feet touched the carpeted floor of his bedroom. He looked downwards, at the half of the eagle chain he was wearing. Taking it in the palm of his hand, he took a closer look at it. The figurine looked as if it was made of polished gold, except for the eyes of the eagle. The eyes were small purple gems. The eagle had its head pointed forward with its mouth open, as if it were calling out. The eagle's body, half of it anyways, looked like it was about ready to take off into the sky. Its right wing was spread wide ready to catch the air. The eagle was obviously incomplete. The left half of the eagle's body was missing, cut off.
Curiosity finally got the better of Kyle. He stood up and walked over to his desk, where the other half of the eagle laid inside the wooden box. He scooped it out, gently, and held it in his left hand. The left half looked identical to the right, only flipped, like he was looking at it through a mirror. Letting the right half fall against his chest, he held the left half by the chain it was attached to over his left shoulder. Walking over to his closet mirror, he held the two eagle halves together with his right hand. Now they looked complete.
One second later, purple sparks flew from where the two halves were touching. Instinctively, Kyle let go of the eagles he held in his right hand, but they strangely remained floating in the same place where he had held them. The two-headed eagle glowed with a faint purple light. That faint glow travelled up the chains. A bright flash of purple light emanating from the two-headed eagle, engulfed Kyle's vision. The light surrounded him, and he could feel this pulsing energy through his body. But then, there was nothing. The sudden flash of light vanished, leaving Kyle disoriented and temporarily blinded.
