"Thanks again." Kyle said to the owner. He slipped the left half of the eagle chain back into the wooden box it had come from. Kyle kept the right half around his neck, but tucked it under his jacket. As he turned to leave with the gift, the owner grabbed his shoulder to stop him.
"Sorry lad, but can I give you my business card." The man reached for something behind the counter, and pulled out a small card with his store's name 'Merlin's Antiques and Rare Magics' Kyle grabbed the card and put it in his pants pocket. "If you could tell your friends about my new show, I would be most appreciative. Plus if you have any... questions... about the item you bought, you can always reach me. My number is on the back."Kyle smiled and promised to tell his friends about the old man's cool little shop. He placed the owner's card into his jacket pocket. Now with everything from the shop, Kyle opened the door and left.
The walk back to his house was cold. Patches of snow were still on the ground, resisting the inevitable doom of melting. He walked several blocks before finally taking a short cut through the local park to his neighborhood's street. From there, it was a short stretch to his house. He quickened his pace and briskly walked up to his front porch.
Inside his house, he welcomed the warm air. Kyle hung his jacket on the coat rack and kicked off his shoes beside the front door. His house was a nice two story, with hard wood floor in the entryway which led to the kitchen and dinning room. The rest of the house had white carpet. His mother had demanded everyone to not where their shoes around the house after the carpet was put in last year.
"I'm Home!" He yelled as he ran up the stairs. No response. Kyle figured as much. His parents were probably still at work, and his siblings were probably somewhere in town doing their own thing.
He walked down hallway and into his room. He placed the wooden box, holding the other half of the two-headed eagle chains, on his desk before dropping falling backwards onto his bed. Tired from a long day of school, he closed his eyes and tried to take a nap. Kyle fingered the half of the two-headed eagle that was around his neck. He was excited to give his friend the gift; maybe the necklaces would make them close friends again.
