Back in Janace, and after Snowy and Maria left the room to go out on rescue mission, Maurice lay quietly on the medical bed that shi had been moved to. Shi could still feel Alpha and Centuri's little mouths on hir nipples as they suckled from hir, and that still made hir smile about hir new status as a mother. It was a reminder of one of things that made Kats Kats. Despite being hermaphrodites and being able to engage in heterosexual relationships with anyone of either gender, many Kats seemed to have a mindset that was rather female at times. They enjoyed being pregnant and commonly looked to become pregnant. Maurice even remembered feeling that drive very firmly since before the Paris Outbreak. And now shi was a mother and hir heart beat with more love than shi remembered ever having, even as a Kat.
Hir ears perked up when shi heard the door open and listened to the sound of the first generation of kittens calling.
"But we want to see them!" came Janace's voice.
"They're my sithers!" came Snowflake's voice.
"We'll be good! Charlie and Sally let us hold Fluffy and Mary!" Foxy promised.
"Please," said Pinkie.
"You guys need to come down a bit," Mina replied as she made her way in, "Shi only gave birth a hour or so ago."
"Guys!?" came Silky's voice, "We're gurls!"
"Yeah!" the others chorused.
"Still, let hir rest," Mina said with a sigh and then shut the door.
"What is it?" Maurice asked to Mina as Mina approached.
Mina then held out a sheet of paper out to Maurice so that shi could read it. It was Alpha and Centuri's birth certificates. Mina had signed it as one of the "nurses" with Snowy being the attending doctor.
"Something that will give your little ones all the appropriate recognition that they will need within society," Mina said with a smile, "and perhaps something to keep in any scrapbook that you and... where did Cat go?"
"Snowy had to go and give some help with whats going on in New Orleans," Maurice said slowly, "and since Flake is in France at the moment, I'm afraid you're left with me."
"I'm sorry you've been left alone," Mina found herself saying.
"Oh, I'm not alone," Maurice commented, "You're here and my eldest soughter is outside wanting to see her sithers."
"And with a few friends," Mina commented.
Maurice only chuckled, "best to let them in."
"You're sure?" Maurice asked.
"I'll need to show you where Snowy and I live and set you up in a guest room, so I can't stay here all day," Maurice answered, "let them in."
Mina slowly nodded and went back to the door. As soon as she opened it, Janice, Pinkie, Snowflake, Silky, and Foxy came bounding in and stopped at the edge of the bed. They all looked with wide eyes toward Alpha and Centuri as they quit suckling, burped, and drifted off to sleep.
"Hello gurls," Maurice said softly and then motioned to each of hir new soughters as shi introduced them, "This is Alpha and Centuri."
"They're cute," Janice said.
"Almost as cute as Fluffy and Mary!" Pinkie agreed.
"No, they're cuter!" Snowflake argued.
"Nuh-unh!" Pinkie answered.
Maurice chuckled, one could identify the family loyalty between the two groups. Janice and Pinkie supporting Charlie's month old twins and Snowflake supporting hir father's newborn twins.
"It isn't a contest," Mina spoke up.
"Did it hurt, daddy?" Snowflake asked as shi turned to look to the infants, running a hand down Centuri's taur back.
"Yes, but you know what... I'm too happy to have them in my arms to care," Maurice smiled back.
"I thought you and mommy said you were only having one kitten," Snowflake commented as Centuri turned hir little head to Snowflake's hands.
"They were a bit of a surprise, but it was a good surprise, don't you think?" Maurice asked.
"Yes," Snowflake purred.
Maurice smiled as the other kittens gently began to pet the new twins. Shi hoped Snowy and the others were okay.
