Terrified at the change in his body and at the sudden
appearance of the neighbor boy, which could not be
coincidental, Paul leapt to his feet and yelled for Bryan
and Brett. He didn't know what they could do to help
him, but with the strange loss of his height came an
equally strange lack of confidence in his own ability to
solve anything.
Matt, at wit's end, didn't know what to do. His plan,
which had been so gloriously realized when he saw Mr.
DeSoto shrinking, was now backfiring. Like the meek
boy he had always been, he huddled in a corner as the
knocking started on the bedroom door.
"Dad, what's wrong?" called Bryan. He could not get in
through the locked door, but the panic in his father's
voice was unmistakable. The door began to rattle on its
hinges, and Mr. DeSoto made a lunge to unlock the
door, which burst inward at that exact moment, leaving
the two teenagers and their shrinking father in a
tangled heap on the floor.
Matt knew he had to act before they could sort
themselves out!
