“While I’m coming clean, there’s something else I wish to share.” Clover said.
“And that is?” Dylan asked.
“I’m not really sterile.” Dylan was disheartened to have first heard that as he’s always wanted to start a family, a suggestion of adoption eased his mind. “Fairies who enter into human relationships are encouraged to make an excuse as to why they cannot have children with them. The real reason is that humans and fairies are both genetically and physically incompatible.”
“Physically?” Dylan inquired. “But we… you know… a lot of nights.”
“That was the work of this charm.” Clover said, holding her butterfly pin. “It changes my physical form into that of a human’s, so I can not only live as a human, but make love with one.” Clover stroked Dylan’s cheek.
“I still don’t understand how fairies are physically incompatible? Can’t you just shrink me, or grow yourself to human size?”
“That’s more complicated, and requires more explanations. First and foremost; and I bet you’ll get a kick out of this; is that fairies are entirely female.”
Dylan’s eyes grew wide at that revelation. “You mean all this time you were…”
”Don’t get me wrong, we can be attracted to men of other races; hence, the two of us. Having said that, most fairies do stick with their own kind, or the occasional lesbian. As for that physical incompatibility, the easiest way to explain is: try to imagine a diagram of a flower from science class. Now, stick that diagram inside one of a woman’s reproductive system, and you get the basic idea.”
“So, you reproduce with flowers?” Dylan asked.
“Two fairies, each with their own flowers. Pistils enter, and from there, it’s just like human sex.”
Dylan was quiet for over a minute. This was something else; he admits it. Pointed ears, insect wings, antennae, those he was used to; but being all female, having a flower for a sex organ. A thousand thoughts buzzed in his mind, none of them negative, but most centering on the possibility of, perhaps, not needing to adopt. “Clover, you have magic powers, right?”
“Yes, why?”
“Do you have enough that you can… transform a human into a fairy?”
It didn’t take Clover long to deduce what Dylan’s idea was. “Wait, did you miss the part where I said all fairies were female?”
”I don’t care. I’ve thought about it, and I want to be a fairy like you.”
“This isn’t something you can just decide on a whim!” Clover said. “This is something that will change your life permanently.”
“Look, my manhood means nothing to me if it’s incompatible with you. I know you, you want a child with me as much as I do with you; but more than that, I want to be with the real you, and that’s the fairy fluttering before me, and if I have to become a fairy myself to do so, then so be it.”
Clover landed on the table. She thought for a few moments and said: “At least consider a trial run first.”
”Trial run?”
“I have a potion that can temporarily turn you into a fairy. It will be effective for 12 hours. I could also acquire a jewel like my pin that’ll let you become a fairy whenever you wish. Or, if you’re that adamant, I can cast an incantation to make you a permanent fairy.”
