Amanda pondered her day. She would be working the help desk as usual. She really enjoyed the adventure she had yesterday after showing Joe where a mysterious book on ancient rings resided in the library. She also recalled how antsy she was while she waited 30 minutes for Joe to meet her after work. She was very distracted as she kept an eye out for Joe to walk down the stairs. Now, she was facing the idea of 9 hours waiting for Joe.
"Joe, I just don't know. I should work. The job is great and hopefully I will gain more responsibility at the library. Part of me is also torn to play. Oh... I wish I could be with you," she stated.
"I wonder how the ring would grant that wish," I commented.
Amanda gasped, "You're not going to find out, are you?"
"No, but imagine if you had said that and wore the ring? It's hard to say how a wish like that would be interpreted. I have had to watch the word, wish, quite carefully lately. We all have lots of wishes. The trouble is when they are granted," I cautioned.
"Still, I would rather spend the day with you," she reminded him.
"Short of me hovering around you, I'd distract you too much," he said and paused. "Can't you take some vacation?"
"Well, I do have a few days coming, but I was saving them for Christmas. It's Friday and a three-day weekend would be great. I have a feeling just taking today off would not be a good omen for the future," she admitted. "We'd likely make every day a vacation, huh."
I nodded in agreement. "Still, there are some options. I could make a duplicate of you and send her to the library. Yesterday I skipped 30 minutes. Would you feel better knowing you wouldn't see me until 4 PM, today?"
"Not really, as I'd be longing for that time. Besides, that throws off your sleep cycle. No, I'm just going to have to tough it out. And, I don't like the idea of a duplicate of me running around either. You only need one of me," she smirked.
