A new power flared in the Medallion's stone, a pink glow changed it's hue to blue and green. As Lonnie stood before a small table inside his apartment the lines of a large book began to take form.
Minutes passed till an hour had gone by. The book of several thousand pages was taking form. At last the book looked solid but the sheer weight made the small table's legs bow out.
Lonnie stood back and gawked at the size of this book. Reaching to open the cover he pulled back his hand as a round eyeball opened and began to ogle Lon.
The eye looked at Lon as he it but stare as they did not a word was spoken. Lon reached over and taking one corner of the book's edge he slowly opened this book of ages past.
Since the early days of Bible times the Medallion had been at the task of granting wishes. In Babel, Sodom, Babylon, Jerusalem the earliest of times, men and names of women were shown.
Long columns of names, dates, places, and of course the final disposition of the person. Subtitles noting changes in historical legacy which changed since some Fathers, Mothers, Sisters, and Brothers failed to exist. The Medallion in all it's gained wisdom worked out the actual family lines to grant birth to those who over time made a contribution to history.
Lonnie began to page along till the name of Circe popped up. Her ownership of the Medallion had sent hundreds into perdition as swine. Still other long lines of names, mostly men were shown as wild animals rather than beasts of burden, or food.
The Witch of Endor had her several dozen pages. As did other names which oddly enough were mostly women. A few names which might have been men from the far East and then back across the endless corridors of time to rest in Europe.
French names of women who by the Medallion's power climbed the social ladder by ridding the world of people in their way. The Percheron horse breed seemed to begin from a family touched by the Medallion. As also was the Lipizzaner or Spain, and the Knabstrup of Denmark. So many of the breeds took their names from the families which were wiped off the face of the earth.
A horse named for it's original owner, Friesian, was in fact the man's wife made a mare and put into breeding. Many breeds which Lonnie knew of in his time on earth were mentioned in the book.
Prince Yanno Viadimir of the Eastern Russian state was transformed into a heavy draft horse and stud. A side note that it was his desire to make a permanent mark in Russian history, he did!
On and on went the names and titles of old and new breeds made from human body and Medallion powers. A full page of names began denoted from Norway and a Samuel Fjord. As late as the 1800's when Samuel met his fate and with wife, three sons, two daughters they started the line of Fjord Norwegian ponies.
Exmoors of North Devon in England, Hackney pony made from the son of Christopher Wilson denoted as the first breeder of the high stepping pony. In close fact a subtitle noted that son Henry became the first stud after an argument over the Medallion's use.
The Medallion switched to Eastern Europe and with the aide of it's owner Tyrol Haflinger the a Sir El Bedavi begat a new race of horses.
Then the Medallion was taken to the Americas as Elwin Chincoteague lost his human heritage and with sever others founded the Sable Island pony breed.
In the last of 1878 the Sultan Abdul Hamid II of Turkey while visiting the United States tried to rape a Miss Barbara Linden. She was the owner of the Medallion and according to the book changed him into the first Colorado Ranger mare. The mare was given to then President Ulysses S. Grant and sent to a stud farm in Virginia.
A later note at the bottom of the same page denoted Miss Barbara Linden on a trip to Indonesia did lose the Medallion. Meanwhile on her trip she had the fortune to meet King Sumba who while dinning was seen with the Medallion around his neck. Miss Linden was never seen again after that night and from that year the King showed his prize Sumbawa mare at every state affair.
Flipping the book far over Lonnie looked for the most recent names. There he saw Professor Fuller and the students who met a bestial fate. Looking down the lines he saw names which were to be transformed and the animal or plant types of the final internment. Odd that those changed to objects were not listed, maybe since objects or statues had not effect on history.
Suddenly he saw the name of Helper number four and his fate of being an Albino colt. Then Lonnie stopped dead in his tracks as he saw his own name and looking across the page his fate.
