Dearest Daniel,
Your Father is away on his Fall business trip to Japan and I could not contact him yet. I tell you my heart was torn from me on reading your letter.
I damn might sue that Professor if it hadn't been for your signing the disclaimer. It's too bad but he should not receive any gain for this terrible situation.
I hope that you can still read this by yourself and that those people there allow us some privacy. Are you feeling alright? Is there any pain to what is happening since to terrible leg cramps you wrote about?
Your Father will be more than just angry. I can't say he won't come down there and God knows what he might do? Your request for us to accept money in place of our Son sounds harsh and I for one can't believe you asked us to do that. Worse yet to knuckle under and accept the professor's crude offer that you as you are be sent to England. I can't believe you'd give up your life with us to live as some stallion at stud, really Dan!
You said in your letter that this may not be permanent, is it?
I can't think any more on this and will write when your Father contacts me later in the week.
With all my love,
Mom
