You exhale in relief, then bound in the door. The door closes, and you hear the attached bell jingle behind you. You look around eagerly, but no one appears. There isn't even anyone behind the counter where you paid for the BOD. As you linger by the entrance, you become slightly nervous. What's taking so long?
Finally, you summon up your courage and begin to walk the aisles, looking for someone, anyone. All the interesting knick-knacks you spotted earlier now seem sinister and dangerous, since you have finally realized that magic is real and can have undesired consequences. You are almost ridiculously wary as you make your way through the store, and to you the store feels larger and more cavernous than it did the last time you were there. Everything is putting you on edge, and it doesn't help that there doesn't appear to be anyone else in the building.
"Excuse me," you call out a few times, but receive no response. Even innocuous little statuettes seem to be giving you glowering looks every time you break the oppressive silence. Your nose has been twitching in discomfort for a while, since the entire place is awash in strange odors mixed in with the definite scent of age. You're dying to take off the plastic nose, but the smells in the shop don't seem like they would be any better.
Concentrating on your own troubles, you nearly jump out of your skin when you finally spot some movement right in front of you. In the dim light, it takes you a second to realize that what you are seeing is your own reflection in a rather old full-length mirror. You look around once more, but there is still no one else in the shop. You walk up to the mirror, noting how strange and ridiculous you look in sunglasses and a plastic nose. Since you appear to be alone, you remove the getup and examine your nose once again in the mirror. It is definitively canine, and still moist, with almost a hint of fur around the edge. You reach up to touch it again, wondering what on earth you are going to do.
Hearing smething shift behind you, you whirl around nervously, your plastic nose forgotten. Your dog nose twitching, you catch sight of...
