"Amanda, somehow we need to convince her that you know nothing of the ring. Something tells me she can sense magic and as much as I've done to you, she may know the you've been transformed by the ring. So, I would like to make her think you were transformed by me for a cheap test of the ring and then let go," I reasoned.
"Joe, I don't make a good liar. I don't think I could convince her I know nothing of the ring," she fired back.
"Amanda, I can make you know nothing about the ring and give you a good story of some eccentric guy you took up to the 3rd floor..."
"Joe, you will not do that to me. I don't want you to brain wash me," she protested.
"Amanda, she might hear us. You need to get down there," I insisted.
"Can't you make a wish that protects me from her?" she suggested.
"May be. I really don't know who is more powerful. Okay, I wish Amanda was solid and visible to every again."
Amanda faded from view temporarily and then reappeared. She could touch the railing, too. "Wow, that felt weird." she added.
"I wish Amanda is invulnerable to Rebekka's magic." Again Amanda faded from view. She reappeared about 5 seconds later and seemed to be glowing in my eyes. Amanda looked somewhat weak when she disappeared. But, when she reappeared, she was vibrant and strong.
"That was quite a trip," she stated.
"It was? Tell me when you get done downstairs. I'll keep an eye on you up here," I added.
"Okay," she said vigorously. She ran down the stairs and went to the help desk.
Amanda entered the help desk area and asked who wanted her. Eric pointed to Rebekka. "I'm sorry, Miss. How can I help you?"
"Where have you been? You look different," Rebekka added.
"I was just in the bathroom. Did you find the book you were after?"
"Yes, I did. It was a little unusual, a bit like you," she added.
"Excuse me?" Amanda replied back.
"You've been exposed to radiation. Someone brought radioactive material in here and contaminated a book upstairs and you. I'd like to take you to get treatment so it doesn't become life-threatening," Rebekka said.
"Miss, I don't know what you're talking about," Amanda replied. "I feel absolutely fine. Besides, I'm not glowing," she laughed.
"Amanda, do you know anything about a brass ring," Rebekka asked pointedly.
Amanda gave Rebekka a ditzy look. "Is that what the pope wears?" she mused.
Rebekka didn't find it too amusing. She cast a spell on Amanda to tell her everything she knew about the ring.
