Tulipelle and Rosetta quickly rose up into the air as their wings beat on their backs. Even at close range, their bodies began to be surrounded by a soft glow that matched the color of their wings. You looked up at them for a moment and felt your own wings slowly open and close behind you as you watched them rise into the air. It was something that you've never done before and you found yourself worrying over some things. Like what would happen if your wings suddenly stopped beating? How fast did you need to beat them in order to fly. A lot of this made you rather nervous.
"Are you coming?" Rosetta asked, "or are you letting your heartfriend leave you?"
You felt a blush rise in your cheeks and saw Tulipelle blush as well.
"Rosetta, we're just friends, and she only just became a fairy last night," Tulipelle half scolded, "I'm not going to force anything on her and I'm not going to do anything that would make her uncomfortable."
You watched Rosetta roll her eyes, like she didn't believe Tulipelle. Tulipelle ignored that and floated down toward you.
"You can do it, Irisette," Tulipelle said to you, "Just like you knew your fairy name, you can fly."
You felt your back muscles twitch again, a little bit faster than before, and you felt your wings give a few soft beats behind you.
"What if I fall? What if my wings stop? How fast do I need to beat them?" you ended up blurting nervously.
Tulipelle came down and bent over. Soon she was floating in mid air just in front of you, and bent over so that she could still look you squarely in the eye, but remain off the ground. She then reached forward and caressed your chin and cheeks with her hands softly. You felt your heart flutter as your eyes looked into hers and you felt your wings beat a little faster.
"Just think about flying, Irisette, that's all you need to do," Tulipelle assured you, "Your back muscles will do the rest to beat your wings and you'll fly."
"But what if they stop beating? How do I land? What if I can't fly straight?" you asked.
"Then you had too much ambrosia," Rosetta teased.
"You're not helping!" Tulipelle shot back.
You stood there for a moment. Ambrosia had to be a reference to an intoxicating beverage, but you weren't sure if Rosetta meant is as a specific brand or if it was the type of beverage and words humans used for alcoholic beverages didn't exist in Gaia. After a moment, Tulipelle turned back to you.
"Unless you consciously stop your wings from beating, your wings will not stop beating," Tulipelle assured you, "flying straight is easy. Just look forward. And we'll deal with landing when we get to Dandel's... and if you wish to hover in mid air... just focus your mind on hovering... think of a helicopter just sitting in the air."
"Them whirly-gigs you say humans yous?" Rosette wondered.
"Yes," Tulipelle nodded.
"And I'll be okay?" you asked, "I'm still very nervous."
"You'll be fine," Tulipelle assured you, "You're a fairy, Irisette, you can fly."
Tulipelle's confidence in you gave you a little more hope, and you actually thought of flying. You thought of a helicopter slowly lifting off the ground, and the mental image of something you knew that could hover helped get things in motion, and you felt your wings on your back begin to beat faster. You could feel the rapid back and forth beats of your muscles as they then beat your blue wings behind you. As they beat faster, you began to feel yourself growing lighter, like gravity wasn't effecting you as much. You looked up to see Tulipelle smiling at you.
"You're doing well, and don't worry, I'll be right here with you," Tulipelle said reassuringly.
That boosted your confidence further and suddenly you were off the ground, rising into the air as if it was nothing. You couldn't see it, but your fast beating wings generated what looked like a blue aura of sparkling light around you. Tulipelle was soon beside you, and smiling.
"I'm flying," you said to her, awe obvious in your voice.
"And flying marvelously," Tulipelle told you.
"Come on guys, you two can flirt when we get to Dandel's!" Rosetta teased again.
