Katie closed her eyes and made her wish. "Alright it's done," she said. "By this time on Sunday you four will return to normal." The girls gave a sigh of relief. "Glad that's decided," Samantha huffed as she sat down on the bed. The little brunette looked down at the floor. She winced as she realized her feet no longer touched floor. Tucking her legs unde her nightgown she now stared glumly around the room.
"Can I say something," Katie asked. The others looked at her curiously and nodded. "I don't understand the bad attitude Samantha. The girl I got to know yesterday was a lot more positive."
Samantha glared at Katie with all the contempt she could muster in her innocent ten year old features. "This might surprise you but I didn't exactly enjoy being a kid the first time. Let alone being forced to relive it a second."
"Why," Katie asked. Samantha averted eye contact with Katie choosing to stare at the floor. Katie approached the angry girl, placing her hand on her shoulder comfortingly. "You might as well tell me,we're going to be like this for the next couple of days."
Samantha looked up. She was still angry about not being given a choice about this but had reigned herself to the fact that she only had to put up with it for a couple of days. Now looking at the smiling blonde girl whose face was full of kindness and concern her anger abated. Sighing she decided to talk.
"Fine what the hell," she sighed. "As a kid I was pretty naive. Other kids used to make a lot of jokes at my expense, it didn't help that I was the smartest kid in class. Kids can be mean and when you seem too innocent they pick on you. That and I never felt pretty I mean look at Claudia or Mika or Mary....I always felt like the ugly girl in the group."
The girls stared slack jawed at Samantha. The confession from the very pretty brunette had surprised them greatly. Samantha had an angelic and innocent face framed by long brown hair that descended almost to her waist. That this girl would consider herself as ugly was mind boggling.
"You can't possibly be serious," Tricia exclaimed. "Look at me. I'm tall, gangly and have huge feet compared to the rest of you. I always felt awkward around the rest of you."
Samantha' looked at Tricia with a mournful expression on her face. "Maybe now yeah but by the time we met in high school you were a curvy beauty. All of you guys looked great in high school I always felt like such a geek."
Mary Elise and Claudia now grasped Samantha by the arms and escorted her to the full length mirror in the bedroom. "Go on and look at yourself Sammy," Mary Elise stated. "Your beautiful, you've always been beautiful."
Samantha now glanced at her youthful reflection compared to Claudia and Mary Elise. A single tear rolled down her cheek as she smiled. She was a cutey. "Thanks guys," she sniffed. "Just wish I knew you when I was this age the first time....and I'm sorry for calling you a kid Mary."
The girls now hugged eachother as Katie smiled. "Glad we were able to work this out but there are two things I want to add." The group now looked at Katie anxiously. The girl obviously had a good head in her shoulders, she had managed to keep the peace in a difficult situation. While they had just met this girl they trusted her.
"This should be good," Mika smiled. "What's on your mind Katie?"
"Well just because the rest of you are turning back to normal at the end of the weekend doesn't mean we can't do this again sometime."
The group looked at eachother and nodded. "I think that sounds like a grat idea." Claudia stated.
"Can we be a little older next time?" Samantha asked.
"I don't know Sammy a bet you were real cute in kindergarten." Mary Elise added with a smile.
"Thanks Katie we really appreciate this," Mika said. "We try to meet up with eachother every few weeks, I think you just spiced up the lives of bunch of old ladies." Mika now hugged Katie tightly and looked up at her. "What's the other thing on your mind?"
Katie turned to the group. "In less than an hour my mom leaves for work and the babysitter Rosalie will be here. Should they join the group or should we go out on our own and do something else?"
The girls looked at eachother and thought about their next move.
