Lightless sat quietly, coiled on her naga-like tail while waiting for the rest of Aliza's imps to arrive. She had felt her new master send a call to the others and was waiting for the introduction of the others. She then looked down over the edge toward the ground below the building they were on. She watched as people who she felt had always looked down on her and figured she was better than them now.
"And this game?" Lightless asked to Aliza.
"A hunt for a bad demon..." Aliza answered, "One who's sided all the ones who held you down."
"A demon would do that?" Aliza raised an eyebrow, involuntarily flaring her wings in surprise.
"Yes," Aliza replied, "At least that is what I sensed when I lost one of my imps to her."
"Why would a demon turn on others? Why would they side with... those that would try to hide what they are?" Lightless huffed.
"I do not know," Aliza answered, "all I know is that my imp was taken from me and the demon I am to hunt is most likely responsible. Hence, why I have been looking for others to play the game."
"And we'll punish her?"
"Once we have enough imps," Aliza answered with a sigh of frustration.
Lightless easily noticed the sigh and looked to her new master. She personally didn't care much about Aliza's official mission, nor did she truly care about corrupting others, but she wasn't going to turn on Aliza either. She had rapidly found that she could not only sense her own power level but Aliza's as well. At best she was only half as powerful as Aliza, and if she decided to have any sort of rebellion, it wouldn't last long. Not that she had any thoughts of rebellion. She was free of her wheelchair and free of everything that had held her down. For now, she'd help Aliza purely out of gratitude for what Aliza had done so far.
"And how have you been gathering them?" Lightless questioned.
"I gathered Wicked, Tizlira, and Ra-Barbus by chance as they walked down a street and then moved on," Aliza answered, "but I lost Wicked, which wasn't fair... and while I sense that Tizlira has recruited one other, I haven't met her yet because I had come to recruit you."
"At random?" Lightless asked.
"And in as discreet a manner as possible," Aliza nodded, and then scanned the skies and the alleys around the building they were on. "We wouldn't want humans to catch on and come after us, especially in a world with updates on child kidnapping and so on... or worse... we attract the attention of God before we're ready to topple the lout from his throne."
Lightless thought for a moment, and then rubbed her chin with the tip of her tail.
"Can you corrupt adults to become children?" Lightless asked, "Or would an adult imp retain their adult mentality?"
"A corrupted version of it... but physically they would be younger and female," Aliza answered, "boys are icky."
Lightless nodded in agreement, "So they could help... why not go after adult criminals... They'd surely play the game, if you can sell it as a way to make them stronger... and the humans will actually look the other way as you corrupt them."
"I don't generally like corrupting those who are already corrupt," Aliza sighed, "no fun in that..."
"Losing to this bad demon would be worse," Lightless reminded her master, "what is her name, anyway?"
"Janith... she's a succubus..." Aliza answered, "strong and powerful... but I hadn't figured that she'd truly go to war against the Demon Council, or against me."
"Can't trust traitors," Lightless sighed, "but then that can be the source of delicious irony..."
Aliza turned to look to her newest imp.
"Janith has to have a human guise," Lightless commented, "a human name... likely Jane... corrupt the gangsters for grunts and have someone begin corrupting anyone who knows "Jane" and we'll gain some knowledge on the target's life without having to risk losing friends."
"That..." Aliza began, "that isn't a bad idea."
