"Robert, you have to understand. This is the real me. This is what I really look like." The girl sobbed. "I thought you wouldn't love me if you I saw the real me but I could make you love me if I could just show you how beautiful the real me was"
Is she for real, thought Robert. If so he was sickened. How could a girl this ugly even consider herself being enough to satisfy his very discerning needs.
"You don't see that it's still me do you." said Allison. She had to make him understand. It was rare that any non witch would accept magic blindly. A demonstration would be necessary. She calmed herself, and changed back into the form Robert was familiar with.
"Oh my god" cried Robert. His jaw wide open with shock, eyebrows near blown off his face. "Your... your... a freak."
Allison shouldn't have been surprised by his reaction. Witches had always been stigmatised, and compared to what some of her ancestors suffered, freak was trivial. In truth Allison had always had a hunch that Robert couldn't love her for who she was, though she would barely dare to admit it to herself - let along anyone else. For when she had first saw him, she had felt an instant attraction, and had strayed from reason long enough to concoct the plan. The spell had been simple enough, as a child from a long line of witches, all Allison had to do was focus on the changes and transform herself through her own force of will. Sure there would be a price down the line, but in the throws of first love she had felt that the toll would be worth the destination. How could she be so wrong?
"So let me get this straight," Robert said, collapsing into the chair. "You can just change your appearance to be anyone?"
Allison seemed somewhat relieved she didn't have to embark down a wordy explanation.
"You know what this means" said Robert....
