Katie, Claudia and Mika escorted their now seven year old teacher into the kitchen where the others were eating. As they entered the kitchen they saw Mary Elise, Samantha, and Tricia sitting at the table. Mary and Samantha had confused looks on their faces as the girls walked in with the shy seven year old.
"Hi girls," Katie said. "This is Karen. She's going out with us for Halloween." The girls smiled and said hello to the dark haired girl who shrank back into Claudia and Mika. "It's okay Karen," Katie said. "Everyone here is real nice and Tricia is seven also. Why don't you have a seat next to her."
Karen slowly made her way to the table and took a seat next to Tricia. Tricia smiled and happily began to talk with Karen. Katie turned to Samantha and Mary who still had looks of bewilderment on their face. "Mary, Sammy can I talk to you real quick." Katie said. Both girls looked at eachtother before standing up. Karen had a look of concern as the girls began to exit the kitchen. Katie reassured the young girl before walking with her friends into the living room.
"Katie what's going on," Mary Elise asked. "Why is Tricia seven and whose the new kid?"
Katie sighed and explained everything that happened. She told the girls about Tricia, the ring, and their teacher unexpectedly coming over. As she finished they looked at Katie with their mouths gaping over.
"So your telling me Tricia is stuck at seven and that shy kid is Ms. Morgan!" Mary Elsie exclaimed. Katie nodded in response.
"That's hilarious," Samantha giggled. "I can't believe that shy girl is our teacher. I kind of want to mess with her head a little...payback for all stress she's caused me this year."
"Come on Sammy," Mika sighed. "Karens harmless. If you saw what we saw you'd feel bad for the kid. I don't think she had a lot of friends growing up. It might explain why she's so mean in class."
"I'm joking Mika," Samantha huffed. "Still it might be fun, especially since she gave Jacob detention last week."
"So what do we do now," Mary asked. "Tricia was supposed to watch us tonight when we went trick or treating. With her uh.....incapacitated....who's going to supervise us."
"Claudia came up with something," Katie said. "She mentioned maybe calling Kellie and Samantha's mom. If we tell them Claudia got sick they might be willing to take us out."
"You think that will work?" Sammy asked. Claudia smiled. "I'm sixty five years old," a now ten year old Claudia exclaimed. "At least I'm usually sixty five. I think your moms might believe it if suddenly an elderly woman became ill."
"I've heard worse ideas," Mika stated. "But the question is what do we do when we want to go the some of the other parties later on. You really think we'll be able to get out with your moms watching us?"
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Katie said. "Right now let's call our moms and see if they agree to it."
The girls agreed and mary Elsie and Samantha quickly made their phone calls to ask their moms to take them out. It took some convincing and some forced whining from Samantha and Mary but both moms eventually agreed. With the adult supervision taken care the girls regrouped to talk about Tricia and Karen.
"Well moms coming," Mary said. "Had to whine a little to get her here but she's coming."
"Yeah my moms coming too," Samantha said. "Not proud of whining like a little girl but I guess I might as well take advantage of my appearance."
"Okay," Claudia said. "Now that that's taken care of we need to find costumes for me and Karen."
"What's wrong with overgrown adult clothes," Sammy said with a smile. "You two could go as the incredible shrinking women."
Claudia turned to Sammy with a sour look on her face. "No one likes a smart ass Sammy," she said before smirking.
The girls began to giggle before brainstorming ideas. Eventually the group decided on an old Snow White costume for Karen while Claudia could wear the Tinkerbell costume she had purchased for the college party they were considering going to.
The group now sat in the living room waiting for Judy and Kellie to arrive. The Snow White costume they gave to Karen fit her well and Claudia's Tinkerbell outfit now fit the young blonde girl like a glove after Katie adjusted it for her age. The girls happily talked now and tried to engage Karen in conversation. Karen was still shy nut was slowly beginning to come out of her shell. The group agreed they liked this version of Ms. Morgan and were looking forward to a night of trick or treating.
"Hello, Mary, Katie are you in here?"
The girls turned to see Kellie standing in the doorway. "Come on in mom," Mary Elise said.
Kellie entered the house and began to look around. Smiling she looked at the five ten year olds and their two seven year old companions. "Hello girls hope your ready to go trick or treating." The group enthusiastically responded with cheers as they hustled towards the door.
"Where's my mom Ms. O'toole?" Samantha asked.
"She's right behind me Sammy," Kellie said. "She picked up Jake on the way over. She mentioned that the two of you were planning on meeting up later on to go trick or treating. Now let's start trick or treating we don't want all the houses to ru out of the really good candy."
The girls squealed with delight as they ran outside into the brisk October night. Katie smiled, there evening was about to begin.
