Maria took Allan in his car to the hospital. Once they got a room, the doctor, a fairy herself said. “Yes, it’s true, he has the condition. All we can do is ease his transition.”
“How long is it going to take?” Maria asked.
“The length of the change, there’s no way to know. For men, of course, it is a longer way to go.” The fairy doctor flew closer to Maria and put her small hand on her shoulder. “Do not fear for your beau. He’ll enjoy it; they all do so.”
“But what if he… I mean; others refused to… go on in the face of this.”
“The ones who wished to keep their pride, thus our life themselves denied? With your support, I’m sure he’ll be accepting. From his destiny he may not hide. Take it from me, a former man, fairy life I became a fan.”
“What about me; will I start to change?”
“There is no clue to how it’s passed, not kiss nor sneeze nor blood for sure; that which causes the phenomenon, we do not know its lure.” The fairy doctor thought for a moment. “If you don’t mind, may I inquire; is a fairy life what you desire?”
“I don’t know… maybe.”
”Trust me when I say, its fun to be a fae. Go and visit his room, he’ll need your support as future changes loom.”
Maria enters Allan’s room and she takes her boyfriend’s hand.
“How’re you holding up?” Allan said.
“I should be asking you that.” Maria answered.
“Well, I heard you in the hall.” Maria gave a confused expression. “Apparently, these things aren’t just for show.” He said pointing to his ears.
Maria gave out a small chuckle before her face became serious again. “Allan, I just want you to know that, no matter what happens, up to and including you becoming a girl, know that I swear I will be there for you.”
“Thanks Maria.”
