Katie quietly closed her eyes. She couldn't help it, she really liked this boy and she didn't want to just let him go to "be friends" yet. She sought out the ring, and she felt its warmth and power. The ring itself didn't mind this choice, after all it wanted her to be happy, plus the ring possessed that unique mischievous streak.
"I wish Josh would forget that I told him about the ring."
There was a moment's pause as the ring warmed and the boy blinked and shook his head. "Oh, sorry! I think I spaced out Katie. What were you about to tell me?"
