Nate and Jeanie sighed heavily as they watched their daughter. While Kathryn was two years older than Hunter, there were times that she could be almost absent minded. She was a good kid and was growing up to be a beautiful young woman, though Nate figured that just as Hunter and Mikey would be to James and May, Kathryn would always be his little girl. She had been conceived after he had George and reawakened their abilities but before he accidentally bit Jeanie. That meant that Kathryn had been born with her lycanthropic genes active. Back then, he had wondered how feeding Kathryn when she was born would effect Jeanie... but then came the love bite and Jeanie was a werewolf when she gave birth. And Kathryn grew up quite well, and despite being able to turn into a six foot ten she-wolf, was a fairly typical eighteen year old "girl."
"You were supposed to be back BEFORE moon-rise, Kathryn," Nate scolded, "Suppose Frank saw you change?"
"Wait... Frank... auto-mechanic... do you mean you set your daughter up with Frank Twitchel from "Frank's Garage"?" James asked for a moment, "Isn't he thirty?"
"Frank Twitchel Junior, actually, Senior did the work on dad's car and the date was with his son," Kathryn laughed. "He's actually seventeen, and no, dad, he didn't see me change."
"And suppose he did?" Nate spoke.
"Then I'd have to admit the truth and show him that I'm not a mindless monster, just like you did with mom... just like I'd also assume you did with the girl who just left here," Kathryn responded.
"Alice," Hunter corrected.
"The girl you've been dating?" Kathryn asked, "She take it well, I take it?"
"She did," Hunter answered, deciding that Alice being rather eager about joining the pack didn't need to be told at the moment.
"See, if Hunter's girlfriend can take it well... surely Frank Twitchel Jr. could take it well," Kathryn turned to her father and mother.
"He could... but we set the date up as a favor for his father as part of what is probably the oddest auto repair bill I've ever gotten," Nate sighed rubbing one of his temples with a paw-like hand, knowing the discussion was drawing attention from his brother and his wife and his own parents, "You have no way of knowing that he isn't anti-werewolf or anything of that nature..."
"Well, I was careful and he didn't see me change," Kathryn answered, "So the pack's secret is safe."
Nate felt Jeanie's hand gently touch his shoulder. He looked over to his wife. Her lips were tight over her muzzle, indicating that she wasn't pleased with her daughter arriving late, either, but eyes looked soft, understanding, and comforting. He then sighed and looked down.
"It is good that you were careful... but you are still late," Jeanie said calmly and firmly.
"I'm sorry, mom," Kathryn said slowly, "we made it through the movie okay, but he wanted to get ice cream afterward and I couldn't get out of it without exposing myself as a werewolf."
The younger female then looked to see that her grandparents were also looking interested in her explanation.
"Though... after ice cream... he realized he was late in getting home, himself and we agreed to part there," Kathryn answered, "by then... yes it was too late for me to make it back here before I changed..."
"Where did you change, dear?" Margaret asked.
"In a bunch of bushes in the park," Kathryn admitted, "No one saw or heard me... but I'll admit that I was lucky."
"All the reason to be careful," Nate said firmly and then reaching out pull his daughter in a firm and protective hug, "You don't know what your mother and I would do if something happened to you. You WILL be careful, in future, won't you?"
"Of course, dad," Kathryn answered and hugged him back.
"So... now that that is out of the way," Nate spoke, his tone softening, "How did it go? Was he respectful, or am I going to have to eat him?"
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaad!" Kathryn gave a groan at her father's attempt at humor, "he was polite and we did have a good time."
"What movie did you go see?" May asked, out of curiosity than anything else. The fact that Kathryn was a werewolf really didn't affect her that much. The fact that Nate and Jeanie were werewolves sort of made it likely that Kathryn would be a werewolf as well.
"He let me choose, and we went to see that new comedy that was out...Juggling Act..." Kathryn answered her aunt, "Where the "hero" is actually clumsily trying to date a woman well out of his league, save a kid's orphanage from bankruptcy, and play softball at the same time."
Kathryn heard the blond furred female werewolf give a chuckle, but said nothing.
"But we did have a good time," Kathryn answered, "and he didn't pull anything funny."
"That's good," Nate told her.
Kathryn nodded, "So, what'd I miss? May joined the pack, I see... You look good Aunt May..."
May only rolled her eyes when Kathryn laughed. The "Aunt May" jokes about her had grown old a long time ago.
"We're adapting," May answered. "Though it isn't too bad."
Kathryn looked and noticed that her eyes drifted over her husband's muscular furry chest, and thought that May looked a bit further down. Kathryn figured her aunt had some ideas about what was "good" about being a werewolf.
"That's good," Kathryn answered, "Hopefully you'll do well with the training coming tomorrow..."
"You'll work closely with your cousins, won't you?" George asked.
Kathryn nodded eager, "Right grandpa."
"So what is the plan for that?" James asked.
"Much of it will be camping for tomorrow and Sunday," George answered, "and we'll all help. We can even ask if Alice's parents will allow her to come along and she can help... but for the rest of tonight... relax and get used to being in fur."
