“Well I think we shouth thay hello, ith’s the polithe thing to do.” Nathan decided after a moment’s thought, before prising himself out of the ill-fitting drivers seat.
“Yeah, I gueth youre righth.” Suzanne ceded while getting up onto her hoofed feet, but having to hunker down to avoid striking the ceiling with her head.
Getting out was just as difficult for them, with Suzanne needing to stoop lower to slip out and Nathan brushing the door frame as he exited the RV. But now outside, they could stand up straight, taking a moment to stretch out before they began to walk over to the small group waiting by the campfire, their steps less clumsy as they became more used to their new forms.
They looked at the Butlers with a mixture of surprise, fascination, and in one case, disappointment as they approached, before the eldest of the group motioned to a spot to their side.
“Greetings. Please sit with us for now.” He politely requested of them.
“Thanth you.” Nathan replied as he sat down where he’d motioned towards, Suzanne sitting just to his right. “Tho? Whath’s you doing here?”
“In truth, we’ve been awaiting your arrival, following a very poor use of the spiritual magics by these two,“ The eldest of them explained, pointing to the other two remaining silent. “You two have been stuck by their misuse of it.”
“Thorry?” Suzanne queried, not understanding what he meant.
“Ah yes, I’ve been keeping you two oblivious to it, so you wouldn’t freak out as it happened.” He clarified, knowing it would take more to convince them that he spoke the truth. “And now I’ll need to break that induced lack of awareness and provide you with the answers you’ll be looking for.” He became silent at this point, before murmuring something just under his breath.
The Butlers were no doubt confused by his words, since they couldn’t seem to recall anything unusual happening to them. But this confusion lasted but a few more moments as they felt something wash over them. Then they looked at each other, and themselves, and finally realised just what he’d meant.
Their tall powerful bodies, thick manes, tails, hoofed feet and long faces, and the fact that neither of them were wearing even one scrap of clothing. A panicked whinny tore from Suzanne as she desperately tried to cover her nudity with her legs and arms as Nathan pulled up to her as he threw the others a vicious look.
“Wha…whath’s the meaning of thith!?” He demanded, surprised at how hard it was for him to speak coherently.
“Calm down, and allow me to explain.” The eldest spoke with his hands raised. Once they calmed down, if only a little, he began. “These two I mentioned, were performing a ritual magic, seeking to tie themselves closer to the nature of these lands. However, they performed it poorly, and as a result, you were the ones affected. I was forced to intervene to try and halt it, and kept you from noticing the effects as so you wouldn’t have experienced the panic that you just had while you were still too far away for me to aid you. However, the effect wasn’t perfect, since as you’ve already noticed, you were changed considerably.” He finished with a tinge of regret in his voice.
“Tho? Whath are you thaying? Thath we’re thuck like thith?” Suzanne asked, the fear clear in her tone.
“Perhaps, perhaps not. That’s what I intend to determine here and now, with you’re permission.”
“Then. Find outh.” Nathan gave him the okay.
He spent several minutes looking them over from various angles, checking each of them in turn, sometimes murmuring to himself so quietly that they couldn’t make out what he was saying. Finally, he seemed to be done and re-seated himself where he’d been to deliver his verdict.
