Katherine sat outside, filled with self pity, feeding some animals.
A rabbit came up to her. It had thick brown fur and floppy ears. She gave it some lettuce to chew on.
She thought back to when she had discovered her ex's infidelity. She had just come home, she was so happy to see him, and when she opened her bedroom door...
Tears streamed from her face. She had never had any luck with romance, but she was so CERTAIN that she had found true love.
She felt a thump on her lap. The rabbit she had been feeding was on her lap, rubbing against her leg, almost empathetically. "Aww, you're so cute!" Carefully, she picked up the rabbit and held it in her arms. "I bet if YOU were my boyfriend, you'd never leave me, would you?" She playfully pecked the rabbit on the cheek. And then, it leapt up and... kissed her.
Katherine was silent, shocked by what had just happened. "You... Do you... Like me?" The small bunny's head went up and down. Somehow, it was nodding.
She stared at the rabbit adoringly. "How about you come inside and get some more to eat?" She entered her house, set the rabbit on the table, and found some carrots for him. "How about Mr. Wiggles? No, too sugary..." She entered the room where her bunny had been to find it lying on the ground, twitching erratically.
"Mr. Wiggles! What's wrong?" The rabbit looked her in the eye. They stared into hers. She stared into them.
