After about a month of flying around in the woods as a beautiful, young, and colorful butterfly, Mary begins to realize that the serum begins to wear off. She starts to grow bigger! Her body began to grow, making it harder for her to fly and land on flowers so she could consume that delicious nectar.
She slowly becomes more human, as she forms human legs and hands, growing bigger and taller than her old butterfly form which she started to become used to. Her arms and hands grew longer and bigger and her small, thin legs grew bigger and longer and more muscular as well, as she slowly started to mutate back into a half-human and half-butterfly type of creature. She began to realize that it was just a matter of time before she would need to return to the civilized world again.
A few days have passed and she would wander around. She finally found a small stream, which she used as a mirror so she could examine her new figure. Her wings and her antennae are larger and her body seems to have grown even taller than her old human self. She realized that she had gradually been changing every day, becoming more human as time went on.
She becomes afraid of being in the woods all alone, especially since she no longer looked either human or as a butterfly but more like a combination of the two. What would happen to her if she were found? So, she started to walk towards the edge of the woods, relying on her memory and her sense of direction and tracing her steps from before, when she had first arrived here a month ago. She remembered the lab which she had visited first and how she arrived there from Todd’s house. Once she passed the lab, she was able to remember how to get to the house. She knew that it wasn’t long now before she would see Todd again.
She continued to walk down the street, late at night in the cold and in the dark, quickly hiding away in the bushes or behind the trees when a car passed by. She didn’t want to be seen by anyone but Todd. She was becoming homesick and she just longed to see Todd again, as soon as possible.
Finally, she arrives at Todd’s house and she knocks on the door. After a few moments, the door opens and she sees Todd standing before her. For a moment, he seems stunned but after a minute he recognizes her.
“Mary! Oh, Mary! Come in! I missed you so much!” Todd cries out, letting her in.
The two finally embrace and hug each other with tears. Then, she sits down on the couch, and she begins to tell Todd where she had been and what all had happened to her.
“It’s all fine, Mary. It’s over. Now, you can go back to being a human being again…” Todd explained, as he handed Mary a vial containing the label which said “Human” on it. “Drink it!”
Without hesitation, Mary unscrewed the cap and she placed the vial at her lips…
“OH!” Mary shouted as she sat up in her bed, breathing and shaking. It was all a dream. The whole thing was nothing but a strange dream. Then, she got up, slipped into her sweats and put her slippers on her feet, before walking into the living room.
Once she walked into the living room, Todd was just busy cutting open a big, brown, cardboard box.
“What… What are you doing?” she asked him.
“I’m opening a box containing the vials which I ordered!” Todd smiled.
“Vials?” she stuttered. “W-w-what vials?”
“Vials with special serums in them! They can transforms us into anything!” Todd explained happily.
Mary’s jaw dropped wide open. It was as if she was about to relive her dream all over again…
