Once the new Mr Perth was down the stair, he could see Kelly and the three friends she’d already brought with her. Kelly herself was about 5'7'', her long dark brown hair down to below the armpits. Of the others, the one he knew (from his inherited memories) to be Melinda had shorter wavy blond hair, only coming to her shoulders with a distinct fringe and was a half-inch taller. Mary was 5'5'' with oval glasses that worked with her face and long black hair. And finally there was June, tallest of the group by two inches with light brown hair that came halfway down her back. All were eighteen with just a handful of months between them, and all were dressed in the school uniform of white shirt with blue tie, matching blue skirt that came a little over halfway down the thigh, along with light brown shoes with a slight heel.
“So where’s mum?” Kelly asked. “I thought she was here with you.”
This brought a realisation into the new Mr Perth. When he’d made the mare that was hiding in the bathroom a human, he’d also made her his wife, thus with Kelly now thinking that he was her father…
“She’s, in the bathroom, getting ready.” He replied, it was partially true at least. “She may be a little while yet.”
“Alright, but it’s still okay to get everything ready for tonight though.”
“Just don’t make too much of a mess.” He permitted with a smile. ‘But I doubt that’s something you’ll be able to avoid.’ “I’ll be checking up on your mother.” He finished as he turned back up the stairs and returned to the master bedroom, locking the door behind him.
‘That went rather well.’ He thought to himself as he worked out the plan of action. First needing to get himself and his wife out of here so that his designs for Kelly and her friends could begin.
From the memories he’d gained from his former ‘master’, he’d arranged a dinner for himself and his wife at one of the more prestigious restaurants the City had, which came before a trip to the movie theatre. Including travel time, it would be about five hours total duration for the night out, and they had about 30 minutes to leave if they wanted to be on time. Slipping into the bathroom, he noticed his wife sitting on the bench as she turned to face him.
“I’ve worked it out, right now Kelly and the others think you’re they’re mother, so you should be able to leave with me through the front door.”
“Then it’s safe for me to come out then?”
“It is, but first we should get you something to wear, to maintain the illusion.”
“I see.” She paused as she looked at herself again, feeling a pang of longing, or something to that effect. “Any ideas as to what?”
“Well.” He thought the matter over. “Given where they were planning on going, I would think something formal. So let‘s get you some clothe on.” he took her hand and le her back into the bedroom, the warmer carpet a relied to her bare feet.
A check of the wardrobe revealed two sets of clothing suited for the night, one a jacket and trousers, for Mr Perth, the other a long crimson dress that showed a lot of the right leg if one stood right, with matching high-heel dress shoes to go with it.
“These must be them.” He said as he slipped the jacket on, before swapping his jeans for the trousers, as she worked herself into the dress.
Being unused to this, they did have some difficulty with the more delicate parts, in particular getting her heels on properly and the dress secure. But soon enough, and with a necklace around her neck, they were ready to leave.
“Remember what I said, try not to make a big mess.” He called to his “daughter” as they left the front door, using the same car that Kelly had come home in to leave.
Only a few minutes later, a realisation came to her. “Hold on, if they think I’m their mother now, then what of their real one?” She turned to face him. “If she turns up…”
“Oh, right.” The new Mr Perth’s eyes widened as he quickly came up with a remedy. “I wish, that the wife of the original Mr Perth, who is now in the barn, will now turn into a horse.”
“Well, I hope that can stop anything bad happening to us.” She sighed in relief.
“It should, I don’t recall passing her on the way here so she’s unlikely to be home right now.” He replied, though to be honest, he’d forgotten to check on just where she had been the moment he made the wish.
