Turning round the corner, the cold metal car rocking back and forth slight from the sharpness of the turn, you see exactly what you thought you would. Just as the apathetic man spoke of, there was a spooky forest, but it wasn't really all that spooky to begin with being that it was nothing more than cut out cardboard trees. Sure, there was mist clinging to the air and a strobe pulsing slowly to add to the eerieness of it, but so far it was all very laughable. Looking to the occupant to your right, you see his eyes gloss over and the look of sheer boredom covering his entire body from head to toe. He definitely looked as though he could use a break from this and you knew just how!
Clearing your throat for a moment as spooky sounds and screams played as you both went down the tree lined avenue, you decided to find out what you could about your companion. "So... what is your name? It's not on your oval name tag, so... what is it hmm?"
Hearing your voice over everything else, his body language changed slightly as his attention was piqued. With a snarky grin, he said... "My friends call me Luke for short, but I rather prefer Lucas. What of it?"
"Nothing, I like either name and since I figured you and I are going to be in close quarters for a period of time it would better to be on a first name basis. My name is..." You were saying as he interrupted you.
"It doesn't matter what your name is, to be honest, I'll just call you kid." He said with a dominant tone in his voice.
"O... k... well that's fine I guess. So, if you hate your job and you are so apathetic to it... why haven't you quit and why are you even on the ride with me in the first place?" You said to him, not really knowing what to say or where to go from here.
"The reason I have stayed as long as I have and why I got on the ride with you is the same... boredom. You see... kid... I don't have to do this job for money... I have plenty of it. I do this to give me something to do, but this isn't much to deal with... is it? I got on the ride with you because I had nothing better to do. I doubted there'd be any who would want to ride this snooze fest for a long time, so here I am! Any other questions?" Lucas said snootily as if he were far more superior than you are.
"I guess not..." You replied as you looked down for a moment, then something strange caught your eye.
As you two progressed, albeit a very short distance, the surroundings had changed. The two dimensional tree cutouts began shift and change, slowly gaining thickness and form. Shadows and highlights became texture and the sky of thick, gray clouds on the ceiling shifted to actual sky with ominous dark clouds.
"Hey Lucas... is this normal? Is this part of the ride or is something far more interesting at hand?" You ask him while looking around and taking it in.
Hearing you, Lucas perked up once again from his apparent daydream and looked around. Lucas's eyebrows furled, curious about it all and scratched his head in befuddlement. "I-I don't know to be honest. I've never been on the ride before, but I knew it was shit because of the comments and jokes people made about how fake and crappy it was. If this is how it was for them, then they must've been nuts because all of this is real!" Lucas said, his hand extended and pointing using his whole arm carefully.
Suddenly, there was a loud and terrifying howl of a wolf as their car continued on the track built into what was a dirt road in the middle of the tree lined avenue. Frightened, the two of you embraced each other and you noticed that the clouds had parted for a moment, revealing the bright glow of the full moon in the sky. Seeing this, you grinned knowing that you were in a haunted house and monsters had been decorating the entrance as well as the car, you knew that there was a massive possibility that there would be at least one werewolf lurking about and that was definitely exciting!
