"Hmm."
Ruby was holding her head in the palm of her hand and was completely zoned out.
Out of nowhere, she said "Look at that sign."
In front of our spot was a cafe, which was unremarkable except for a sign:
NO ANTHROS ALLOWED
"So what? It's just coffee." I said. "Try saying that when you're like this, and you'll understand my position." Ruby said.
I didn't have time to mull this over, because our plane had arrived. We were about to enter when we were stopped.
"You can't enter."
A burly security guard had stopped us in front of the plane. "What're you talking about? I have our tickets right..."
"Not you," He said. "Her."
Ruby strode up to the guard. "What do ya mean by that?"
"Your kind isn't welcome here."
I could tell she was angry. If it were any other day she would have tackled him to the ground. But, with great difficulty, she managed to blurt out. "Well, then I guess i'll just walk."
Begrudgingly, she turned around and started walking. "Wait! I need..."
She turned around, looked at me, and said "See you later."
Then she put her tail up, squatted, and hopped away.
She had abandoned me.
I looked at the people around me, completely ignorant to what had just happened.
"Try saying that while your like this, and you'll understand my position."
"Sir, are you getting on?"
"Yeah." I stared away, through the window, where I could see my wife, hopping away from me forever.
Or so I thought.
"Try saying that while your like this..."
I remember I used to think I'd never "Understand her position."
I was wrong.
