The wish was made and the bargain was done, and as painful as it was for Katie to gain the knowledge of a parent, it was just as painful for Kelly to lose that same knowledge.
Kelly's knees buckled, she felt as though a red hot poker was going through her skull. She was confused, dizzy, and suddenly sick. She could feel conflicting things happening in her head as Katie watched her. The first was that she felt her memories of college begin to fade.
At first she found, oddly, that there were holes. She could remember the class she was in, but then she couldn't remember what it looked like. She could remember she took classes, but then she couldn't remember what a college classroom was like. She assumed it was like school, there must have been classes, and stuff. She was a bit worried about taking college algebra though because she was terrible at math.
Wait, she wondered... I already took college algebra... I... No wait... I...
Her mind wandered as she lost the train of thought. She couldn't have taken college algebra, she wasn't even sure what regular algebra would be like. She wondered how hard that class would be when she became a sophomore.
Her eyes opened... She saw Katie... Her mom, standing over her.
"Kelly?" She asked. "Are you okay?"
Kelly blinked, "Yeah, I think so mom... I'm... I don't feel so good."
Katie helped Kelly to her feet. "Okay..." She said. "Lets get you back into bed. Before we do though let me ask you a few questions, just to make sure you are okay."
The teenager nodded, still feeling weak. "Alright..."
The newly minted mother looked into Kelly, her daughter's, eyes. She now had a lifetime of parenting, well fourteen years worth anyway, and knew when Kelly was lying. "How old are you Kelly?"
Kelly blinked. "I'm fourteen, I just turned last month." She said.
"Good." Katie said as a smile came to her lips, she saw no sign of hesitation or deception. "Who am I?"
The teenager laughed. "You are my mom. Duh."
Katie smirked, she now had everything well in hand now, and she began to lead Kelly back to her room to lay her down for a bit...
