Zack frowned at Goldie. "What do you mean, they're gone?"
"I mean no one at the warren seems to know where they are, and I couldn't sniff them out either. The other thing is that one of the new rabbit-girls--Roberta, the one we stashed there as a favor to Yereminiva--isn't there either."
"Did she kidnap them? What kind of behavior is that for a rabbit-girl?"
"A lot of the rabbits aren't too crazy about us taking the kids and transforming them to another species. It's possible that they're in hiding. Roberta and Terry were pretty close."
"Well, take a couple of huskies and find them. There aren't a whole lot of places to hide here." Zack wasn't too worried--they were just rabbits, not bears or wolverines--but he really didn't want to tell Yereminiva if she asked for Roberta that he didn't know where she was.

Roberta looked down at the innocent, trusting faces of the young rabbits. They would always stay that way, she vowed.
On the other hand, she didn't know the park outside the warren well enough to find a hiding place and she had gone nearly five hours without a buck.

Lawrence looked down at his deliverer. From out of nowhere this icy lawyer had shown up and managed to bail him out. She introduced herself as Katrina VanderVeer and the pegasus found himself wondering what her true self was. (He wondered that about most humans these days.) Probably a polar bear, he thought. Then all other thoughts were driven from his mind as he laid his eyes on his beloved Irene for the first time in weeks.
His beloved and quite a bit chunkier Irene.
