You decide that before you take any big risks, you should ensure that all aspects of your new power are working properly. You need to know if you can actually make people forget about your transformative abilities without letting too many people in on the secret, just in case it doesn't work or doesn't work the way you expect. You mentally run through your list of friends, and wonder who would be trustworthy enough to keep your ability hidden if you can't make them forget. Finally, you settle on a friend you've had ever since high school; one you've trusted through thick and thin.
Her name is Daisy, but she had always hated being called that, so everyone called her Dee. She always seemed to have a level head on her shoulders, and she had never turned her back on you when you needed help. Although she is a girl, the two of you have never felt any sort of sexual attraction, but rather are more like best buddies. She would definitely not spill the beans on your secret, and if you could make her forget, you would have a better idea of how to control other people's memories of you.
You call Dee, inviting her over to hang out, and she agrees. After hanging up, you immediately hide the lamp in the attic space above your closet so that Dee won't accidentally wish something by mistake. Since it will take her a while to reach your house, you practice some more changes to get comfortable with the ability. You start with little things, like making yourself taller, adding muscle, and removing flab. Admiring in the mirror the manly specimen you have become, you decide to go further. Instead of continuing your growth, you instead grow smaller. Not only do you shrink, but you concentrate on removing years from yourself in the process. You stop when you are a gangly boy of five, barely reaching half the height of the mirror. You alter your facial structure slightly, giving your visage a more cherubic aspect. On a whim, you decide to add a pair of dove-white feathery wings, although you nearly double-over in surprise at the strange shift in your anatomy to accommodate the new appendages. Once the change is finished, you experimentally flap your wings a bit, surprised at the ease with which they move. However, you realize you cannot achieve much lift due to the weight of your body and the proportionally small size of the wings. While you are considering whether to try to make your bones hollow in an attempt to fly, you hear a knock on the door. Dee!
Caught by surprise, you call out "Just a...," but before you can say "second," you realize your voice is that of a child. Hoping Dee isn't suspicious yet, you quickly grow yourself back to your regular age, although you do so so quickly, you forget to remove your wings, which grow with you. "Just a sec!" you call out, turning and knocking your cologne off the dresser with one outstretched wing. Cursing, you rapidly pull the wings back into your body and grab the bottle off the floor, grateful your bedroom is carpeted. Yanking on some sweat pants and a t-shirt, you run for the door.
"Thought you were gonna leave me out here forever," Dee grouches, holding up a bag. "I brought the snacks, what's the plan for tonight?"
"Well, I thought we'd try something different," you grin as Dee comes in, drops the bag and her jacket, and plops down on the couch.
"What's that supposed to mean?" she asks unconcernedly. "Got a new game or movie or something?"
"Or something," you respond as you consider the best way to broach the subject. Decisively, you...
