You are most curious about the possibility of turning into inanimate objects, and how that would work. Would you have senses? Could you control yourself as an electrical appliance without batteries? Can you turn into multiple separate objects at once? You conclude that as an object, you must be capable of some form of thought, since part of your wish was to have absolute control over your transformations. You realize you have a very limited understanding of your power, despite the care you took in crafting your wish.
You decide to start off with something simple, something that would not appear odd if you had a problem with the ability. On your left forearm, you decide to form a wristwatch. At first, you are tempted to create something expensive, like a Rolex, but you realize that it would be tough to explain how you could afford one. Instead, you cause some of the flesh on your arm to expand into the shape of a generic timepiece. With some concentration, you manage to form all the intricate details, down to the numbers on the face of the watch. Touching it with your right hand, you are amazed at how normal it feels; not like soft flesh imitating a watch, but you can actually feel the hardness of the glass face and the leather of the strap. In a strange sense, you also have a weird awareness of the watch touching your hand. It is not the same as having touch receptors in the watch, but you are conscious of the watch's surroudings in an odd detatched manner. You make one last adjustment, and surprisingly, the watch begins ticking away, just like any other watch. Something akin to knowing your own heartbeat, you know the watch is, in a sense, now a "living" part of you.
You still want to take it a bit further. You reach over and undo the strap of the watch, which comes apart like any normal watch. The watch appears to have no actual connection to your skin, but you can still feel an inexplicable connection to your mind. You set the watch on the dresser and step away. Focusing on the watch, you try to change its structure. Before your eyes, you see the watch change from an analog watch to a digital watch, complete with plastic strap, and continue functioning. You pick up the new watch, and it appears as though it were always a digital watch. You smile, knowing that you can change into multiple objects at once, run electrical appliances without power, and have some sort of sensory perception even though objects. You pick up the watch and cup it in your hand, willing it to melt. It gradually becomes a pool of water in your hand, which you then absorb back into your body.
You spend the next few hours expanding the repertoire of your powers, gaining more confidence and comfort with your new form. However, even as you learn more about yourself, you realize how little you truly know about the world around you. Obviously magic exists, the genie and your own new abilities are evidence enough of that. However, it would be foolish to assume the magic you encountered is the only magic in the world. What else exists? Could someone find out about you through their own powers despite your ability to make people forget? Will you be targeted for your abilities? Are there magical limits to your abilities? You need answers, and right now you only have one source.
Although it is nearly impossible to concentrate, you manage to get through work the next day, since you don't want to arouse suspicion. Rushing home, you pull out the lamp and rub it eagerly. The genie pops out with her usual flair, clad in her relatively see-through veils.
"Ready for your third and final wish already?" she asks. "I thought you'd learned your lesson the first time, and would think it over first."
"I have been thinking," you grin despite her snide comments. "I don't have a wish yet, and you won't grant a wish unless I specifically say 'I wish' before it, right?"
The genie nods, obviously wondering where this conversation is going.
"How would you like to take a walk? Go outside, see the sights for a while?" you ask.
"If you're thinking of setting me free, I guess I should warn you," she replies while giving you an odd look. "We djinn are not like you humans. I can't say I won't become someone else when freed, someone who would harm you."
"Well, thanks for letting me know," you respond, realizing now you have something more to consider. "But I was just thinking we could walk and talk. A sort of exchange of information. We'll get you some new clothes, I'll show you around town, and you tell me what you know about magic, help me test the limits of my power. It must be boring stuck in that lamp all the time."
The genie gives you something of a sad, wistful smile. "I am bound to the lamp, so I cannot travel far from it. As I am bound to the lamp, I am also bound to this form. I cannot remove these garments, or change them into something more appropriate for your time and location. Even if you were to wish them different, it would be your final wish, and upon its completion I would be returned to the lamp to await my next master."
"Hmm," you say contemplatively. "Well, we can take the lamp along, that shouldn't be an issue. You say you can't change your garments, but couldn't you just wear something over them? Then you wouldn't be changing your form, just putting something over it. Let's try this..." You hold your hand up in a gesture for her to wait, then reach over with that hand and place it on her shoulder. Immediately, a strange liquid goo begins oozing out of your hand and covers her nearly head to toe, veils and all; however, before she can react, the goo changes shape and solidifies into a classy trenchcoat, short skirt, long boots, a scarf nearly covering her mouth, a messenger bag draped cross-body, a warm hat, and what appears to be a bluetooth headset in her ear. You then reach over, pick up the lamp, and drop it in the messenger bag, feeling the bag lock tight around it as though you were holding it in your own hands.
"This might be a little strange, but it's the best way for us to talk without others hearing. The genie's eyes open wide at hearing your voice through the headset in her ear, even though she can see your lips are not moving. "You can talk softly into the scarf, and I will hear it, okay? She nods, then whispers, "How impressive," into the scarf with a small smile. You grin in response, then respond out loud offering your arm, "Shall we?"
Once outside, you note the happy look on the genie's face. You're also pleased you were able to turn parts of yourself into clothing, even though it is a bit strange feeling someone else walking around inside pieces of you. After strolling a while and giving both of you a chance to acclimate, you decide it is time to get down to business. "Well, there is a lot I want to ask you and find out, so as we go around, I hope you don't mind talking a bit," you say through the earpiece. "The first thing I want to know is...
