You took a bite of your grashopper. "Hmm... tasty!" You said.
"Thank you, Irisette." Dandel said.
"Oh, I gotta congratulate you on your upcoming bonding to Rosetta, Dandel."
"Aww, thank you."
"Well, since you brought it up," Rosetta interrupted, "perhaps you can help us out with our planning."
"Aah, I should've seen this coming." Tulipelle said.
"Well, don't worry, your friend can help, too." Dandel said. "The more the merrier!"
You nearly sent part of your drink down the wrong pipe. Clearing your throat you spoke up. "If I may point out, I've been a fairy for like, six hours, so I know next to nothing about, well, any of this."
"Oh, that just means you'll offer a fresh perspective." Rosetta said. "Besides, it may give the two of you a few ideas."
You and Tulipelle exchange an awkward glance and blush.
"Rosetta, we talked about this." Dandel said. "Not every fairy Tulipelle meets wants to be her heartfriend. Sorry, Irisette, she does this all the time."
"I've... almost gotten used to it." You said. The rest of breakfast was spent discussing the food for the after ceremony banquet. Naturally, you suggested those golden cherries.
When lunch was over, Dandel presented the group with a book. Inside were pictures of many elegant dresses made of flower petals, captioned by a bizarre script which somehow, you could read as if it were written in plain English.
"I like this one." Tulipelle pointed to a daisy skirted dress with a daffodil top.
"I like it!" Dandel said. "How about you?" She asked Rosetta.
"Eh, not my first choice." Rosetta said.
Many of the selections were met with the same disagreement. Finally you spoke up. "Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but why not just wear different gowns?"
"It's not stupid at all," Tulipelle said, "you're new to fairy life, after all. Well, traditionally, floras, brides to use a human equivalent, wear the same gowns to show their devotion for one another and that they are as one."
"Ah, I see; quite romantic."
"We fairies love romance."
"I can tell."
You and Tulipelle gazed into each others' eyes and before either of you realize it, you were holding each others' hands.
