"Fireboars! They're fighting fireboars! They came out of nowhere! My magic doesn't help!" Tobi cried.
Audrey, Lyra and Yvana rushed to their aid, followed by Mika and Luka.
When the group arrived at the fight, they saw Jaka the Ogre in the midst of the melee, while Ander was sending magic missiles while trying to use shield spells to defend himself. The three women hit the melee in a standard triangle formation born of years of drill and experience, while Luka the barbarian, with a powerful body but little training, grabbed the nearest weapon that came to hand--a pitchfork--and leaped in. Mika transformed one of the largest fireboars into a gentle ewe, but it was difficult to get a clear bead on potential transformees in a kinetic, whirling melee. The fireboars fought back vigorously, and Luka barely avoided a slashing tusk.
The fireboars broke when Jaka picked up a leader and threw its broken body into the remaining mass. Injuries to the warriors were slight. Mika breathed a huge sigh of relief when he saw that Luka, who had impaled a fireboar on his pitchfork, was unharmed, and made a mental note to get his love better protection than a loincloth.
On returning to the stables they saw that the carnivorous ape had managed to free herself from her bonds and also free her lupine erstwhile employer. Tobi and the new little girl who had formerly been an arrogant nobleman were quietly playing rock paper and scissors in a corner, oblivious to the world. "Are you OK, mistress?" asked Jaka.
"Yes, this is my new little sister Shari." Shari gave a dazzling smile. "She wasn't very happy, but I told her she would like being a girl and now she does."
"Being a girl is cool! I'm so glad not to be a boy anymore." said Shari, with every indication of sincerity.
Mika and Ander exchanged glances. There was something going on with Tobi's magic and rapid personality swings, and the two magicians were worried.
