Kevin looked towards his brother, knowing that Mike was attached right beside him, but unable to see him. The light from the end of the long hall way did not illuminate anything. Despite the darkness, he could still sense Mike's nervous face looking at him, trying to brave a smile for both of their sakes. After releasing his breathe, which he hadn't realized he had been holding, Kevin swung his foot forward, which turned out to be a mistake. Mike must of have tried to do the same thing with his own leg, but of course, Kevin could not see that. The thud of their body falling helplessly against the floor echoed down the hall, as well as the two yelps of surprise.
Mike grunted. "I'm rolling us over." He pushed hard with his arm to roll them both over onto their shared back. "You'd think that he'd of had the foresight to pay his electric bill before kidnapping a couple of teenagers and merging them together. Seriously, walking is hard enough when we could see."
Kevin stifled a laugh, but nodded his head in agreement, even though Mike couldn't see the movement. "Yeah, some lights wou..." Kevin's voice stopped mid-sentence when the lights in the hallway suddenly flashed into existence. He had to squint and blink. The light was blinding after the darkness. "..would have been nice." Kevin finished. He squinted at the lights for a moment. "Lights..." The hallway became dark again. "Lights..." The hallway brightened again.
"Okay that enough. You're going to give us a seizure." Mike commented. He was not squinting anymore, having adjusted to the brightness.
"Nah, just you. We don't share a brain, just a body." Kevin fired back. While their situation was not anywhere close to being normal, it made him feel better to be able to make light of it. They would show that psycho; this would not destroy them.
"Well, I'm sure you would love being attached to me when I start seizing uncontrollably and wet our pants." Mike had a sly smile for a brief second before he pretended to seize.
Kevin reached across their torso and grabbed his brother's seizing arm. "Okay, okay. Point taken."
Mike stopped and gave his brother a half smile. "Well then, lets get back to focusing on the task at hand, getting out of here." The brothers sat up and braced their hands on the ground. Carefully, they raised themselves from the ground and back onto their two feet. The light hallway made coordinating their walking much easier. The two shuffled forward, and Mike used the wall for support. The bright light at the other end of the hallway, made it impossible to see what was on the other side. Both brothers only hesitated for a moment before continuing though.
A fraction of a second later, Kevin and Mike found themselves in their small bedroom, standing in the entrance. Pieces of clothing littered the ground. On the far side of the room was their bunkbed, pushed up against wall the long way. Beds were unmade. Besides the bunkbed were two wood desks, the ones they used for school work. On the wall were a couple of pictures from various activities. The room was just how they left it. "Is this some kind of joke!" Kevin said out loud. The twins turned towards each other. The looked down and placed their own hand on the center of their chest, the chest they shared. They were still attached. "Turn around." Kevin said just before he pulled his brother in a circle. The long hallway that they had just crossed was gone. It was just the empty hallway adjoining their room. The same hallway that adjoined their younger siblings and parents rooms.
The same digitized voice began to speak from out of nowhere.
"Welcome Home..."
"You both wanted to escape, and I graciously provided the exit..."
"Just remember, you have chosen your fate..."
