The animal shelter became fairly busy shortly as people came through looking at the dogs and cats and other creatures along with the truck coming and going bringing in other dogs and an occasional cat. Dan kept watch for Cathan and made sure to keep to the middle of the enclosure and ready to move at any sign of the shock-stick coming his way. Unfortunately, one time he had taken a short nap allowing Cathan to sneak up on him and get Dan with a good jolt. There was something about that man that made Dan despise Kat even more but at the same time he wished he was back with her. At least then he would be back with his litter and pack.
"No. No. NO!" Dan quickly reprimanded himself. "Family. Family, FAMILY!" he was thinking more and more like a dog. Dan was scared. He was loosing the battle. He kept catching himself licking, especially where he shouldn't or didn't want to. He uneasily pranced around the enclosure and sniffed every breeze, person and animal that came near. He seemed to be more familiar with the animals than the humans, and that's what frightened him the most. Even more than Cathan's tormenting.
Dan smelled loneliness. He smelled happiness. He smelled and heard the whines of pain from injured animals that were brought in. He smelled new life as some animal had given birth. At one point, he smelled something terrible but could not place it until he heard one of the workers mention that the animal could not be saved. It was death. Death sent waves of terror through Dan, still not sure if that would be his fate if no one came for him or by Cathan's torture. But then Dan smelled something that made his stand up and get excited. It was a bitch in heat, and he could barely control himself as he ran around the enclosure wanting to get out.
"No. Stop. This isn't me." he told himself and sat down to forget, but his arousal couldn't be reduced that easy. He tried to stop himself as he sat, his head turning as he lifted one leg so his snout moved in. Dan jerked himself away with a howl. "STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!" and he ran to try to shake off this feeling. Unfortunately, all it did was make him pant, get tired, and breath harder, the bitch scent filling him even more. Soon he sat again, and shortly his nose was back down beneath him and his tongue reaching out. Dan tried but found the feeling stronger than the porn mags he used to get into the mood to masturbate. He thought of those pictures of scantily clad and naked women, and before he realized it, he was licking up a full boner and squirting himself and everywhere. It was too good to stop even when some went in his mouth and down his throat. When he could finally stop, he saw Cathan watching again with a smirk and then walk away with a happy gait. Dan felt sick having humiliated himself in front of Cathan, thinking he may never be able to control himself as a dog ever again.

As it began to grow dark, a truck came in with a young dog, barely more than a puppy, but big, bigger than Dan. He watched as the dog would frolic with the handler, fortunately not Cathan. It would get very excited and then stand up on a handler's leg and start humping, only to be dragged off and then try to hump something else. It must be at the age where it just matured but didn't understand its instincts and would go at anything. Dan thought it was funny as he watched until -ZAP- Cathan hit him solidly.
"All the cages are full. Why'd you bring in another? 'Cause you like his attention?" Cathan joked at the man as he went over to the man trying again to get the humper off his leg. Before the man could answer, Cathan told him, "Put him in with this one. He's been good and mellow. They should get along just fine. What's the name on the tag, anyway?"
"It says Stewart." the other replied.
"Well, Stewart," Cathan said with a poke and zap of his zapper to Stewart sending him springing high into the enclosure with Dan, "enjoy yourself with ole Danny boy here, and we'll see you in the morning."
With a loud clang, the gate was closed, and Dan watched as Cathan fastened a padlock and looked back at him with a mean smile before trudging off. Soon the lights went out, and the place began to get quiet, but the smells still filled the air as Dan and Stewart moved towards each other noses flaring as a precursor to the formal introduction.
