While Jeff paraded around in his new lion form, his shocked neighbor had called animal control to report that there was a full grown male lion in her neighbor's son's bedroom. He stretched and basked in the sunlight like a real lion would. Then the door to his room splintered as it was kicked in and men rushed in. Instinctively, Jeff leapt to his feet just as a hail of tranquilizer darts impacted his hairy body. He lunged forward and collapsed in a tawny heap.
Hours later he woke in a spare cage at the zoo. There currently was a surplus of lions at the zoo, and they men outside the cage were debating euthanasing him. Hey, the chronivac should be turning him back any minute. He wondered if he had to be in range for that to work.
"You know that kid's parents were more upset about the fire that their kid's computer caused when it was hit by a stray dart hit it, than that their kid had a lion in his room."
"If they kid's smart he'll stay in hiding until they rebuild the house."
The house burned down? The chronivac was destroyed? Oh, (expletive deleted)! thought Jeff.
