"What's up with that?" Kelly asked, turning back from the dresser where she had placed her cell phone to charge. "You know I've always had a thing for spider monkeys, they're just so cute." Kelly nodded over at the spider monkey plushie in the chair in the corner, then looked at Erica, who was absently scratching her arm. Kelly felt something was off about her friend, then saw a dark spot where Erica had been scratching.
"Hey, are you okay?!" Kelly tried to take a step forward towards the bed where Erica was sitting, but nearly tripped over her own feet as she experienced a strange sense of vertigo. Erica looked like she was in a trance, but then rolled over on the bed clutching at herself. Kelly, now on her knees, tried to steady herself, but it felt like her clothes were hanging off her. Her jeans slipped down, and even her underwear fell off. She couldn't see up on the bed where Erica was, but heard a soft moaning. Kelly suddenly doubled over on the floor, feeling a strange tugging at the bottom of her spine, accompanied by a fiery itching all over her body. As the pain wore off, she tried to stand back up to see if Erica was okay, but found herself tripping over her t-shirt, which a moment ago had only reached her hips. Looking down, she gasped at the long spindly hands which poked out from the obviously oversized t-shirt. However, it wasn't just the proportions which shocked her, but the fact that the arms were covered in reddish fur.
"Erica?!!" Kelly shrieked, her voice oddly higher in pitch. She stared in horror as a hand as furry as her own reached for the edge of the bed and pulled, bringing into view a monkey face framed by tan fur, wearing an expression as horrified as Kelly felt.
"What happened to us?" Erica asked with a shudder.
Pulling her t-shirt and bra over her head, Kelly looked down at her now much-smaller fur-covered body and spindly limbs, her arms much longer than her legs. She closed her eyes at a strange sensation from her backside, afraid of what she suspected she would see. Turning her face to look over her shoulder, she opened her eyes to a long, curvy, furry, and prehensile tail. Wishing it were all a dream, Kelly awkwardly maneuvered herself next to the bed, but wasn't sure how she would get on top of it, the top of the mattress now slightly above eye level. Turning to the chair at the desk at the foot of her bed, she tried using the wooden frame as a step, surprised how secure a grip her hand-like feet obtained. Managing to pull herself onto the chair, she took a breath and leaped across the gap onto the mattress, landing rather easily, her tail curled proudly above her. Moving next to Erica, she helped her friend pull her own t-shirt off and get a look at herself.
"I think we're both spider monkeys..." Kelly stated the obvious.
