"How the hell did this happen?!" Erica gasped, freaking out.
"How should I know, you're the one who got all weird asking about my favorite animal," Kelly retorted. Ticked off, Kelly jumped off the bed to the floor, landing surprisingly comfortably, and reminding her of her leap from the chair to the bed earlier. While she was still worried, she couldn't help but be a bit excited. Using all four limbs to move about, she made her way over to her clothes. Ignoring Erica, who was still hudded on the bed, Kelly decided to experiment a bit. Turning around and concentrating, she reached out with only her tail, and managed to gather up the t-shirt, lifting it into the air. Unable to hide a look of surprised satisfaction, Kelly turned back to Erica.
"Looks like the tail's real," Kelly said, unable to keep the wonder out of her voice.
"Oh my god," Erica clutched her knees to her furry chest and rocked back and forth, ignoring the fact that her tail was also twitching with nervousness. Feeling bad that her friend was so scared, Kelly pulled herself back onto the chair, this time using her tail as an extra support, and launching herself onto the bed again.
"C'mon, I know it's weird, but there's no point in freaking out," Kelly said gently, stroking Erica's tan fur with her long fingers. "If we just sit around, we can't figure out what caused this or how to turn back."
The idea of turning back into a human seemed to bring the light back into Erica's eyes, and she nodded uncertainly at Kelly. Glad that her friend seemed to have regained some control, Kelly again jumped off the bed, and looked back at Erica, inviting her to follow. Not as adventurous, Erica backed off the edge of the bed, hanging and slipping down like a toddler. Kelly headed for the door, now moving comfortably on her hands and legs, while Erica tried to follow unsteadily walking upright on her legs. As Kelly waited by the door to her room, Erica finally gave up and began moving on all fours. With some stops and starts, the two finally made it down the stairs.
"So what do we do now?" Erica asked.
Kelly knew her friend was scared, but she couldn't ignore the excitement that had been building in her since she changed into this new form. Her backyard bordered on a park, and there were plenty of trees...
"Maybe we should see what we can do like this," Kelly suggested, hoping her friend would go along with her. "I mean, sure, it's weird, but we don't know how long it'll last...maybe we should try some stuff outside..."
