You stand around, still in awe of what just happened, when suddenly you hear voices behind you.
"A human!"
"Escaped!?"
"It can't be!" you made out from the overlapping voices.
You turn around to see a trio of small figures. They were all female; nine or ten inches tall, wearing silken dresses, suspended in the air by broad, colorful wings fluttering behind their backs. Long, pointed ears stuck outward and antennae grew from behind their bangs. First, a unicorn, and now fairies? "What the hell is this place!?" You can't help but think to yourself.
"I'll get to the bottom of this." Said the fairy in the center. Her dress was slightly longer than the others; pink and purple matching her wings. She flew in closer to you, so close, you could see the subtle glints of light in her flawless skin, and that the dress seemed to give off a shimmer all its own. Her face looked as one of suspicion, but not malice. She had eyes like jewels, framed by violet; and pink colored lips you would be tempted to kiss, were they your own size, and not currently opening. "This trap was made by fairies to hold intruders into our realm," she said sternly, "how is it, that you managed to escape from it; a talisman, an enchantment? It must be potent if we cannot even sense it." You were stunned into silence, still trying to process being addressed by a fairy. She backed up slightly and crossed her arms. "What's wrong, can you not even speak?"
Gathering your composure, you said: "I-uh... a unicorn pulled me out."
"A unicorn!?" The fairy to your right said. She wears a green sundress with puffed sleeves. Her wings were varying shades of green. Everyone turns to the fairy to your right; wearing a short, tight, yellow and orange strapless dress, again, matching her wings; who's eyes were closed and antennae were raised, she seemed to be trying to sense something.
"A unicorn WAS here a few moments ago. I can sense its residual magic. It's on the human as well!"
They all turned back to you. "Tell me," the purple fairy said, flying back close to you, "did the unicorn do anything else after freeing you?"
"Uh, it... tapped its horn on my forehead."
The fairies looked at each other in shock. "The Favor of the Unicorn!" The blue fairy shouted.
The purple fairy backed off again. "Usually, when we catch an intruder in our fairy ring, they are judged by our queen; most are set loose, others who we see as a threat may be changed and made one with the forest life or, for the truly threatening, executed, still others are gifted with life as a fairy. For some reason, you've curried the unicorn's favor; and so, we cannot harm, or allow any harm to come to you. Still, we must determine what this all means."
As the purple fairy flies off, the two other fairies grab your hands and pulls you along, following her.
