You dart your eyes at the snake image, your selection flashes at the end of the timer. Looking back up to your brother suddenly the straps are released and the chair pulls into a hidden floor panel forcing your brother to stand. You notice the snake charge at your Bother and before he can move away he gets bitten on the right leg. A mechanical arm comes out of a wall panel and takes the snake away leaving only your brother crying in pain knelt against the wall of the cell.
After what feels like ages of time passing, your brother has calmed a bit still tearing up. But you notice his eyes are starting to blacken, appearing more like that python bit him earlier. You think to yourself how this is possible, you had no idea exactly what this professor did for a living but that he was filthy rich. The changes to your brother quicken after this point, his skin starts to flake off by itself revealing stunning blotches of scaly patterns mostly black and yellow. You see your brother strip apparently trying to itch his body, flaking most of his skin off, only causing the change to quicken. Next to go was his hair, then the sound of bones cracking mixed with the sound of blood curdling screaming from your brother. You try looking away but your fixated on what is occurring.
You try asking out loud, "why this? and how?"
A digitized voice answers back
"You see I needed test subjects.
I could have used willing volunteers but there was too much red tape and moral issue.
But I could live with criminals and their relatives being used as test subjects.
Didn't you think it weird a rich professor such as myself didn't use better security to keep people like you from breaking in?
Guess not.
As for the "how", science, society today might not like the idea of genetic modification and change but someone has to be "first".
I want to be that person who is, maybe the military will see the usefulness of my research."
"Relatives? I hope he means just my brother..." You think to yourself. You pull your attention back to your brother who is vastly different now, his legs have begun to merge into what you know must be a snake tail.
Suddenly the screen goes dark to display new text which a digitized voice reads.
"We will come back to your brother later.
His transformations will take some time but should be done sometime tomorrow.
Human to animal was my first test.
Now I want to see if a human could be transformed into something inanimate or at least the appearance of an inanimate object and back."
As the screen switches and comes into focus, you see it's your sister Lucy presumably in another room with the same restraints as yourself. She is screaming and crying, you try to say "I'm sorry" but she clearly doesn't hear you.
"NOW CHOOSE!"
A familiar arrangement of icons appear, this time there are 5 choices. The first image looks something like a human with visible lines which reminds you of a android you might have seen on tv or in a movie. The second image is that of some stuffed bear. The third image has what looks like a typical 4 door car. The fourth image looks like a doll. The fifth image as various food items on it.
The typical timer appears but you have 50 seconds now.
