"If there's any reason that these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace." Silently, Loki stood up. The priest stood dumbstruck, with his mouth hanging open. He had done countless weddings, and never once had this happened. The statement was a simple formality. He had never expected someone to actually say something. The rest of church was just as dumbstruck, though several bridesmaids (and even a couple groomsmen) looked surprisingly relieved. Finally, Laura turned to her husband-to-be and demanded "Who is this man?!" Instantly the church broke out into defining chatter as wedding goers tried to figure out who this mysterious stranger was.
"How dare you interrupt my daughter's wedding!" Roared Samuel Clark, springing to his feet with the speed of a man half his age. Laura's father was ex-military, and was dressed accordingly. His wife Lois was draped dramatically back across the pew, fanning herself and muttering about haw she knew Laura should have married that young Doctor. Phillis Smith, David's mother, jabbed her husband George sharply in the ribs. Seeing the look in her eyes, he stood up and managed a feeble "Yeah, what is going on?" His wife just rolled her eyes. Father Mitchell, looked around frantically, desperately trying to regain control of what was going on. Loki sighed exasperatedly, and with a wave of his hand caused all talking to stop.
"Let's just say I'm a guardian angel. I want to make sure that Laura and David are absolutely sure about what they are about to do. I know I'm not the only concerned party here. After all," he said grinning wickedly, "life is full of changes."
