Just then the door to the door room flew open shoving Kevin into the corner behind it.
"Where is he?" he demanded grabbing Connor by the collar, "Where is Kevin? I'm going to turn that bastard into kindling!"
"Uh? Are you my other roommate?" Connor asked.
"No?" said the big galoot looking perturbed. "Do I look like one of were-dos? I'm a half-giant mage not a werething or werecreature or whatever. And I want to have a word with Kevin," he said grabbing the chair behind Kevin and shaking it. Then he tried the other chair.
"He said he had soccer practice," Connor offered.
"Damn thing about were-furniture. They all smell like wood. You," he said sniffing Connor, "You smell human, Scotch-Irish with a hint of Italian, and maybe some German or Dutch. Can't place the other scent? It will come to me. I'll try the soccer field. If I don't find him, I'll be back!"
Connor asked, "Wait! Why are you so mad at Kevin? He seems like a nice enough guy considering he's a werechair."
"You're his new roomie?" the half giant paused and seemed to calm down, "Let me tell you about Kevin. He's not just a werechair, he's a prankster. And not just pulling himself out from under people when he's not wearing his tie. Nasty stuff, that's how he ended up getting stuck as a chair."
"I thought that was a mistake in his transformations class, and the janitor-"
"No mistake, and it was at the general assembly, and he did end up stacked with the chairs, but he wasn't supposed to be transformed. He had planned a prank, but it went wrong. See he had planned to pull his stunt of pulling himself out, so that one of his profs would end up on their keester. But the dean, and if you don't know this already, is theatrical. He didn't want ordinary chairs at the dais, so he had the janitor remove them and stack them and conjured a red and gold jeweled couch for the faculty and a throne for himself."
"But? He wasn't found until the next semester, and the inanimate professor found him, but he was using a detection spell. Some of his new students do screw up the transformation spell, but we're all pretty sure Kevin did this on purpose to embarrass one of the faculty, so he got what he deserved for that. And he's going to get what he deserves for what he did to me!" growled the giant. He paused and in a gentle voice extended his hand to Connor, "By the way, I am called Lars."
"Nice to meet you, Lars. Uh, so what did Kevin do to you?"
