Mary knew she ought to turn back, but just being in this body, being this age, she couldn't help but feel excited. Her whole body brimmed with a strange energy, ready to burst. She wanted to run, to climb to play. It had been so long since she was a child, and she'd been a little girl growing up. Now though, she was a boy, a completely different person and gender. What would it hurt to go out and play.
She glanced to the vials, then to her door, and finally to a mirror on the wall, A puckish ten year old with dark hair and eyes stared at her, his nose and cheeks freckled. She grinned and saw the boy grin back.
"Aw heck, why not? Ill run down to the park and play a bit!' She said aloud, giggling. "But I have to have a new name first in case someone asks. From now on, so long as I'm like this, I'm Matt."
Grabbing her key, she left the house and hid it in its special spot. Then, glancing both ways down the drive, she ran to the local park. As she entered, she felt that thrill of exuberance fill her and she launched herself onto the play structures. She climbed and laughed as she slid down the slide, and she felt a strange euphoria that she'd long forgotten growing up.
Then she heard someone behind her, "Hey kid!"
Turning around she saw another little boy with blonde hair staring at her. "Yeah?" She asked, almost breathless.
"What's your name?"
"Matt!" She answered, almost without thinking.
"Cool, I'm Jake. Wanna come play tag football with me and my friends?"
