Waking late the next morning, Terry let the light soak into her for a few minutes before she pushed herself out of her covers. Recalling the events of the previous night, it had been so, surreal. A man accidentally making himself a horse and getting trapped in that form until she was able to reverse its effects, said item of his predicament being Gold Pen that she now held.
Even as she showered, dried, and dressed herself, her mind kept wandering to what she could do with it. And by extension, was there anything she COULDN’T do with it? One thing was certain, she’d need the time and space to experiment to find out.
“Terry, you up yet?” Debra’s voice called out from behind the bedroom door.
“Yes, for a while now.” She replied cheerfully, already having half an idea for an opportunity to test it out.
“Good. Your classes are a little over an hour away, you sure you got time to eat and get ready?”
“Ready? For what?”
“You forgot?” She opened the door to speak with Terry face-to-face. Long brown hair that came below her shoulder blades with a distinct fringe, her blouse and jeans slightly teasing, but not provocatively so. “Us and Samuel are taking a camping trip today.”
“Oh, yeah. I remember now.” Terry had actually forgotten about it, perhaps a result of the other, bigger item on her mind. Three days of camping in the countryside starting when Terry’s own class ended in the mid-afternoon, and their respective schedules clear for the time they‘d be taking. “Don’t worry, I got everything I need, I’ll be ready in time.”
“I hope so, we’ve been planning it for some time after all.” Debra crossed her arms, a sign that she was being serious.
“Bags’ll be packed, all I’ll need to do is head back here, get them in the car, and then we set off.” Terry assured her. “So no need to worry.”
“They’d better be.” Debra sighed, blowing away her slight frustration. “Well, be seeing you then, got my own class to get to.” She finished as she left.
This leaving Terry along again, she needed to be ready, and fast.
‘Not enough time to pack them usually.’ She worked out after mentally checking off the list of items needed. Spare clothes, tents, food and water.
Her hand brushed over her bag, and then she remembered. Pulling the Pen and a fresh sheet out, she wrote down.
‘The bags I need for spare clothes, food, and drink will be next to me on the bed, filled with the items required.’
Her medium-sized roller suitcase appeared where she’d directed, with the specified items. Satisfied that all was in order, Terry turned her attention to what she could do during the camping trip with the time she had.
To be honest with herself, Terry had initially enjoyed the racoon paw, and the horse foreleg more so, before feeling a little weirded out by it. Thinking about why, she wondered if it had anything to do with having a completely different one with the rest of her body remaining human, perhaps trying to change the whole body at once was the key?
Thinking about that made her think about…Dave?…was that his name? From what she’d worked out, he must have started becoming a horse as he was driving towards the HS, and if she was to be completely honest with herself, she was more than a little curious to experience the event for herself. And, with the Pen, she had the means to do just that, and many other things. Suppressing a laugh, she decided it would at least make the over two-hour drive far more…interesting, to say the least. So long as she got it right.
A regular pen was used as she jotted down some notes, looking them over as she wrote the test copies prior to committing herself to the actual move she had planned. A few practice writes later and she was ready with what she was going to do, and on a fresh sheet, with the Gold Pen, she wrote:

Transformation Start Time: 16:00 or when all targeted are in car, whichever is first
Stage-to-Stage Transformation Time: 5 minutes
Transformation Duration: 1 hour at Stages 1-3, 3 hours at Stage 4
Aware (Self): Yes
Aware (Others): No
Notes: 50% (Stage 2) = Horse rear legs, head ears, tail & fur, on humanoid body with dexterous hands; car is drivable at all stages, changing by absolute minimum required to permit this; normal speech retained at all stages of transformation
Special Conditions (Self): Trigger Phrase “I like horses” will cause early transformation from one stage to the next one up for all targeted; Trigger Phrase “I need to stretch my legs” will result in transformation from one stage to next one down for all targeted. NB: This will result in duration becoming permanent at whatever stage of transformation is reached
Satisfied that everything was in order, Terry slid the notes into her bag, determined to get something to eat before her class for the day started, realising that she’d taken more time than she’d expected and would have to hurry if she wanted food.
