In her single mindedness to obtain "her" William and flee the country, Yvette was unaware that she was being observed and cautiously surrounded.
Even if she was paying attention, the breeze was slight and working against her, carrying the scent of law enforcement officers and the Skulk security person away from Yvette's otherwise sensitive nose as she made her way towards the Andersons' backdoor in human form.
MEANWHILE...
Having finished the dishes and other kitchen chores, William and Martha returned to the family living room to discover their son Eric in a hot chess match against Frances Twist.
"You're pretty good," conceded Frances, "and I'll admit I'm a bit rusty from only facing a computer, but I believe this is check," she said, moving her Queen to threaten Eric's King.
"Well, I'm out of practice too," admitted Eric, "but see this pawn right here?" he asked, pointing to the only one he still had on the board. "It hasn't moved the entire game, so still being on it's starting square, I can move it two spaces instead of one, and place it between your Queen and my King. You can't take the pawn without losing your Queen, which the King would take with my next move. Your turn."
"Hmm..." said Frances, studying the board, when everyone heard a noise in the kitchen.
Instantly, the three weres in the room recognized the scent of were-vixen, and started assuming their animal forms, regardless of what would happen to their clothing while doing so.
"Eric, run upstairs, tell the boys we need them now, and then lock yourself in your room and call the police!" shouted Martha, as two werecats and a werefox formed a line between the human child and the kitchen.
"YES MA'AM!" shouted Eric, as he ran toward the staircase.
Despite her attempt to enter quietly, in her excitement to be so close to "her" William again, Yvette bumped the sink counter by the backdoor, which briefly disturbed the rack of drying dishes sitting on it.
Blinded in her mad quest and anxious to have who she mistakenly believed to be "her mate", Yvette walked into the dining room from the kitchen, only to be confronted by three angry adult weres, while two teenage werewolves were rapidly coming down the stairs.
"What is this, a fucking zoo?" cried out Yvette, while eyeing the situation.
Every were against her had their claws extended and was snarling warnings. Yvette thought something was slightly off and sniffed the air. Although there were two werecats before her, one of them was not Samantha Twist, who she had briefly met before at a Town Hall Meeting.
"So, you do like to munch carpet after all," Yvette teased Martha Anderson. "That proves you're an unfit mate for my William."
"It doesn't matter what Martha likes or doesn't like," said William. "She's my wife and I love her, now more than ever. The fox has bonded to the cat, and no matter what happens, we shall always be a happily married couple."
"WHAT? You can't mean that!" Yvette said in a state of shock, almost dropping the knife she held in her human hand. "You're mine!"
"Never have been, never will be," said William proudly, while putting an arm around Martha.
"It ain't gonna happen lady," swore Nate, as two werewolves suddenly leapt at her.
UPSTAIRS...
After having told Ben and Nate the werewolves were needed downstairs, Eric locked himself in his bedroom, pushing his bed against the door for added protection.
Then, after taking his cellphone off the charger and calling the police, he fell to his knees on the floor and started crying.
There was no mistaking the sounds of a huge fight happening downstairs. Whether it was instinct or something else, Eric pushed another button on his cellphone.
There was a brief pause before Julie Stovall said"Hello?" only to hear someone crying on the other end of what her Caller ID said was a call from Eric Anderson.
DOWNSTAIRS...
Yvette instinctively assumed her werevixen form, losing the clothing stolen from Jenny Harper, even as she ducked the first werewolf and tried to stab the second with the knife.
Not knowing who was who, the werevixen had narrowly avoided Ben's attack and only managed to cut some fur off Nate's outer coat.
Meanwhile, Martha the werecat grabbed the arm with the knife, clawing and biting Yvette as hard as she could.
The knife fell to the floor just before Yvette did, with the full weight of two teenage werewolves upon her back.
The duo struggled with Yvette. She was truly a mad woman possessed as she tried to grab the knife again, which was only a couple of inches away from her claws even as the two werecats and the werefox rushed in to help the boys.
MEANWHILE...
Jackson Thompkins and Samson Carter had been approaching the rear of the Anderson family home from opposite sides, when they started hearing noises coming from inside the house.
They broke into a run and headed for the backdoor, reaching what passed for the back porch just as a fellow officer and a man in a black suit, carrying an unsheathed sword, came running toward them.
"The rogue is inside," said the other man, changing into his werefox form as he ran, for the Skulk leader made sure all her security personnel wore clothes that allowed full freedom of movement in any form.
Thompkins paused to radio for backup as the rest of the group entered through the backdoor.
They rushed through the kitchen into the rest of the house only to find...
