Dalton'a

added by The Brilliant Dr. Garfield 7 years ago A

As Dalton scanned the dance floor, looking for Ashlynn, his eyes wandered over to the booth overlooking the most pit. There would probably be a good viewpoint from up there.

He pushed his way through the crowd. He looked at the faces of the dancers. They seemed drunk and dreamy, as if they were swimming in a cloud. A beam of light hit a dancer in front of him squarley in the chest. Dalton yelled out in suprise at the sudden flash of light. When it faded, where the dancer had been standing, was a wolf. The wolf turned it's head to look at it's body, then grinned at Dalton with a lupine smile: warm, but showing just a bit too much teeth. It howled once and bounded away into the crowd.

Still a little shaken from the previous incident, Dalton finally made it to the stairs. They were metallic and made sharp ringing noises when you stepped on them. He would have t be extra quiet. Then he noticed a dirty pair of slippers, red ones, lying on the floor near the base of the stairs. Dimly realizing that these slippers may have once been a person, ne slipped them on and quietly made his way up the stairs.

The door to the booth was ajar. A desk, the length of the wall facing the dance floor, sat under the windows. Two technicians, wearing baseball caps and old-fashioned headphones, regulated the transformations and the light.

Their backs were to the door.

Then, through the window, Dalton saw Ashlynn. Across the room, she was sitting on a bench against the wall, making out with another boy. The boy had a dog tail, possibly belonging to a malamute or a husky, potruding out of the back of his transformation costume. It wagged back and forth, as if he was in... ecstacy.

Red hot rage boiled through Dalton. He had saved weeks to take Ashlynn to the fair, and this was how she repaid him? Well, he would fix her up and her new boyfriend real good.

He spied a two-by-four leaning in the corner of the booth. It was probably being used to repair a shelf or something. He quietly picked it up. Since the booth was dark, Dalton had the advantage. He snuck up behind the two technicians.

The two-by-four hit the technician on the left right across the right cheek. He didn't even have time to gasp before he was knocked unconcious. He fell out of his swivel chair and landed on the carpeted floor with a thump.

The second technician wasn't so lucky. He heard the thump, turned around, and barley had time to see his partner lying on the floor before Dalton's two-by-four smacked him across the face. He was stunned, but not unconscious. He stood up and, like a drunken man, tried to stumble toward the door. Dalton swung a second time, hitting the technician right in the stomach. This blow rendered him unconscious. He stumbled backwards and sprawled, passed out, across the control panel.

Dalton shoved the body off and pulled up a chair. He eyed the controls, looking at all the flashing lights, labeled buttons, levers, and switches. What would his revenge be?
