You shudder as the jackal's mouth curves upward to reveal sharp glistening teeth.
"It so happens you have come at an opportune time, mortal. The time was nigh that I should seek out a new vessel, and you have kindly provided me with one," the dark god grinned.
"V-vessel?!" you stammer. You don't like the sound of that! "What do you mean?"
"Human bodies are so fragile," Anubis sighed. "Some adjustments will be necessary to make it servicable," he muttered as you stared on in shock. As though the god had made a decision, he finally looked directly at you. "Rejoice, mortal! I have decided to make use of you, despite your poor form." Pointing a clawed finger directly between your eyebrows, he continued. "The needed improvements will begin immediately, and very soon you will prove a vessel worthy of the Lord of the Dead!"
You feel a strange sensation as though a blazing brand has been placed on your forehead and fall to the ground, writhing and screaming in agony as the chamber goes dark.
You are not sure when you blacked out, but the next thing you know you are being shaken, and you open your eyes warily.
"For crying out loud, we end up wandering in circles half the afternoon and she ends up napping!" you hear a male voice exclaim. As your vision clears you look up groggily.
"Johnny?" you ask uncertainly. "Wait...Anubis!!"
"That must've been one helluva dream," Emily glowers down at you. You finally realize you are lying on the stone floor of the chamber you and your friends had initially split up from, your buddies staring down at you.
"Get up already," Mike sticks out a hand to pull you to your feet, which you take, still wary.
"C'mon, let's get out of here, I've had enough of this creepy place," Karen pouts. You, half-dazed, follow your friends out of the pyramids, only to face an irate tour guide and a long lecture from Ms. Applegate. Exhausted and confused, you are relieved when your group finally arrives back at the hotel. You are so glad you just wave Karen off when she gives you a strange look and asks if you are okay. You immediately head for your room and pass out on the bed. You don't even wake up when Ms. Applegate knocks on your door to call you for dinner.
Finally, you open your eyes. The clock on the nighstand says midnight, but you can still see around the room fairly well, which you attribute to ambient light from outside. Yawning widely, you feel a little strange, but put it down to the odd day you've had. You stumble into the bathroom and switch on the light. Looking up at the mirror, you squint as you notice a strange spot between your eyebrows. You reach up to rub it, when you notice..
